day 13

music review: i am sasha fierce, beyonce
beyonce knowles latest effort falls a little flat, just like some of the notes she sings.  of the "double disk" - which is really just two mini cds (a waste of material if you ask me, as each of the discs only has 8 songs on it) - only a handful of songs are radio friendly.  the "beyonce" album, i am..., is a string of power ballads, minus the power.  think "if i were a boy," but not as good. the only possible single from the "a side" record is "halo," though beyonce's voice is so computerly digitized, its hard to distinguish her from other pop-stars-in-a-can.  queen b made the mistake of releasing two singles, each of which is undeniably the strongest of the discs. "single ladies (put a ring on it)" is, sadly, the most consumer friendly track.  other songs may have appeal, but none will be hits. it seems like b rushed this album, not exactly considering what direction she wants to go in.  tracks, like sasha fierce's "diva," play like lil mama rejects. others, like "ego," are just plain jokes; knowles's lyrics allude to the oversized member of her lover, which the title is a euphemism for.  in general, i was underwhelmed with the cd, which has been eargerly anticipated since b'day dropped in summer '06.  while everyone is expecting another "irreplaceable," they'll be severely disappointed.  this is the least beyonce album beyonce has ever put out and its just a matter of time before the fan reactions hit the fan.  head here and click on music to listen to tracks off the cd - the two black and white covers represent songs from the new release.

britney spears: for the record
the recovering pop princess's new documentary premiered on mtv tonight.  the film followed britney for 60 days, starting with the day before her appearance at the 2008 video music awards.  allegedly, no question or topic was off limits in the two month production. one of the major topics on the special was the justin timberlake-britney spears-kevin federline debacle. britney said it was hard to not have a person who was in the spotlight with her when she and jt split up, leading her into a life of partying to "keep busy."  she didn't know what to do with kevin, she says, establishing a family and her "dream home" too fast; she had the relationship for the idea for everything, not for love. the relationship crumbled when kevin's celebrity became too big - he wanted to do everything for himself and not the new family. britney's southern charm still shines through and, sometimes, reads as naivety.  her relationship with her father, aka her conservator, is also heavily showcased; it's definitely one of love-hate, as she calls him an "asshole" repeatedly.  the most comedic part of the special was britney's spot on impression of her father.

britney also reflects on her troubled single mother life - she asks "why didn't i just go to louisiana?" a question she still cannot answer herself.  and, as for the shaved head incident, it was just rebellion - an emotional cleansing of sorts.  the show took us behind the scenes of the making of "womanizer's" video, showing the entire creative process; it looks like brit brit came up with the concept herself and worked out the choreography with a dancer she's had since her career took off.  "sometimes its an emotion you need to fell when you dance...the only thing that can touch [that emotion] is when you move a certain way," says spears about her art; rather than therapy, brit would rather express herself creatively.

the paparazzi, of course, were another big topic.  britney sometimes wishes she was not famous, just so she could be just one of "the people."  she can't go to the supermarket or walk down the street with her children.  most celebrities only have three or four photographers on them at one time, but spears is an anomaly; she usually has at least five times that amount.  the show even revelead a strategizing session with her manager and security about hiring a decoy so that britney could get just one moment of peace.  though, without the constant attention, britney wouldn't be the star she is today and be able to have a number of business ventures, such as her perfume line.  britney scoffs off the idea that she's a "victim of her success;" she thinks people should embrace it and accept it.  britney's life may not seem normal to us, but it's "as normal as possible" for her.  we get to see a moment of this in a shopping trip in which britney looks for clothes that say "mommy" and that aren't "too expensive."

"i used to be a cool chick, and i feel like the paparazzi has taken away my whole cool," laments britney about stardom, but it doesn't really seem to faze her.  britney doesn't really seem to regret anything or care what people think of her.  she just wants her life to be a normal as possible, and that's the reason for her doing the documentary; she has to cope with this life everyday and wants other to understand that. she doesn't just want to be a joke anymore; she wants people to listen to what she wants to say. she compares the way her life plays out in the media as a prison sentence; she fells sad and lonely.

This special just happens to coincide with the release of her new album, that was never planned.  dad jamie said they just put britney in the studio to keep her busy and it wasn't until a few months later that manager larry rudolph thought that the songs she was recording could be compiled as a record.  the special also showcases britney's surprise appearance at madonna's recent la show.  madonna does a small interview about life in the spotlight, explaining her philosophy on life - she believes everyone has control over their own destiny; and that, as a young person, you're going to make mistakes.  with this, britney explains that she's sorry she let herself be taken advantage of and that others took advantage of her.

for the record ends on britney with her sons and family on halloween and her video shoot for second single "circus." brit really appears happy when she's working and with her family, the two constants in her life.  from what i can see, the "circus" video looks high in production value and looks to be on par with womanizer.  lets hope spears is able to keep this good streak going. she says she wants people to take away, after watching the film that "she's just like them.  i love what i do.  i love my babies. and i work really hard." britney promises a good, mysterious book one day, too...

click here to listen to the bonus track "trouble," which was featured in the documentary.

day 12

gossip girl in texas
gossip girl stars chace crawford, ed westwick, and jessica szohr were spotted out to dinner at plano, texas's the shops at legacy saturday night along with crawford's family.  crawford is a native of the dallas suburb, while ed and jessica are assumed to just be family guests.  ed's presence makes sense as he is english and would not exactly go home to celebrate thanksgiving in the uk.  though, his being in town does nothing to squelch rumors that he and chace are an item. jessica, on the other hand, seems to be quite the random addition.  fans who spotted the cw stars said they all appeared shorter in person, and seemed a little awkward.  maybe its the lack of stage lighting and makeup? chances are chace was sporting makeup anyways.  sources also say that the crawford matriarch was looking a little tipsy as she stumbled out of mi cocina at the shops and chace had to take the keys from his mother before they left the area.

britney, of course
britney spears made her third european performance of #1 hit womanizer on simon cowell's the x factor on saturday night.  click here to check out the rendition.  britney seems to finally be getting into the groove of things; this is the best the choreography has looked since she started the mini tour and the mother of two actually appears to be happy.  you can also check out britney on the new cover of glamour, looking more like her old self (probably with the aid of a little photoshop). check out the scanned pages over at the daily stab.  you can also see miley cyrus's non-lip-synched performance of "7 things" from the x factor here.  miley seems to be channeling her inner rocker, which comes off a little awkward.  however, the singing was actually good.

project runway delay
with all the lawsuits between the weinstein brothers, nbc/universal, and lifetime flying around, it seems we've forgotten that the three big powers are fighting over a tv show, project runway. shooting of the show's sixth season has already been completed, with this cycle taking place in los angeles.  no word on when we'll get to see the show, with the earliest premier date being summer 2009, if anything clears up.  and, along with the scenic change, comes other show changes.  because the season flipped coasts, mainstay judges michael kors and nina garcia were unable to be bicoastal.  so, it's out with the old and in with the new.  the two judging mainstays will still make appearances, but the panel with have a revolving cast of characters to fill their places. this revolving door features mostly hollywood tabloid targets,  with two of the leaked names being lindsay lohan and eva longoria.  hopefully, the two actresses will still be relevant by the time the show makes it to air.

November 28, 2008

day 11

britney, take two
britney spears continues her comeback tour overseas with an appearance on the french american idol-esque show star academy.  britney basically did the same performance as from that german awards show, but it looks like she's worked out the nerves a bit.  maybe it was the outfit change? who knows...let's just hope that bspears works out her routine(s) a little more before her US debut over at good morning america on tuesday, december 2nd.  spears is next set to perform over at simon cowel's the x factor in the uk.  click here to watch her latest performance.

america is a no show for rosie
rosie o'donnel's attempt at a modern variety hour over at last place network nbc failed...big time. less than 5 million people tuned in to the mess of a "live" show.  celebrity guests were misused, with comedian kathy griffin being thrown away with a nancy grace impression.  the show seemed to be a way for nbc to plug their other projects, with stars from almost all of their shows making an appearance.  while nbc has said rosie live was simply a way for them to test the waters of the variety hour market, the show was actually set to be a weekly series.  hopefully rosie gets the message that america is a little tired of the childish fights she picks and wants to remember her for the fun loving, gift giving talk show host of the 90s that she was.

movie review: four christmases
vince vaughn and reese witherspoon's four christmases, one of the only holiday films this year, plays out predictably, but, at only an hour and a half, its entertainment is hard to beat.  the storyline jumps around, which keeps the audience interested, but silly moments cloud the enjoyment of the film.  appearances by kristin chenoweth, sissy spacek, and jon voight are fun to see, but most of the actors are somewhat wasted in their roles.  a lot of the comedic moments fill up the first half of the film, leaving the second half to be a bit dull and dramatic. overall, the film gets 3 out of 5 stars from me.  it's sure to do well, with two a-listers at the helm, but won't become a classic.

November 27, 2008

day 10

brit's back
britney spears made her comeback performance at germany's 2008 bambi awards.  click here to check the performance out over at perezhilton.com.  britney did a new mix of her number one hit "womanizer" and, as expected, it was lip synched.  as this was her first performance since the disaster that was the mtv vma's over a year ago, britney seemed a little nervous.  but over, it looks like she's back.  while there wasn't a whole lot of dancing, the routine was definitely choreographed and is a good sign of what's to come.

jobros and lovato
it looks like the jonas brothers brought their entire disney family to the dallas area for their performance at the cowboy's game today.  yesterday, wizards of waverly place star and current nick jonas's flame was spotted at northpark in dallas and the boy's camp rock costar opened the game with an interesting (to say the least) rendition of the national anthem.  when the brothers took the salvation army stage at halftime, they were dressed the most casually anyone has seen them in years, in sweaters and jeans.  the boys did a medley of songs from their current record, ending in the single that started the sophmore album off, "burning up." since the family act recently purchased a home in a dallas suburb, i wonder if they had a big sleep over? no word on whether or not joe's current girl, actress camilla belle, or kevin's hometown girlfriend were in the area for the holiday.

thanksgiving = a quiet day in the hollyhood.
hope everyone enjoyed the holiday.

November 26, 2008

day 9

tv news
new dancing with the stars champ brooke burke has gotten a little tv greedy.  the former e! personality wants her own sitcom as a follow up to her dancing success.  while sitcoms are good working hours for moms, do we really want to see another model-turned-actress?

could robyn be the mother on how i met your mother? actress cobie smulders is pregnant with her first child.  that means both the leading ladies of the cbs comedy are pregnant, as allison hannigan recently announced her own pregnancy. no word on whether or not the pregnancies will be written in, but the looks of this prospective are negative -  allison was recently shown in a flowy dress when being interviewed about jamie lynn-sigler's guest starring role.  as well, both of the star's pregnancies will mainly be in the hiatus period of the season.

heidi and spencer's marriage is not legal.  the hill's resident villian couple has confirmed that their mexican nuptials are not legally binding in the us, but mtv's cameras just happened to be tagging along on the mexican vacation where the elopement took place.  whether or not the couple make their new union legal is yet to be seen, but lets hope the two decide against it.

wtf oprah?
oprah winfrey left her latest audience hanging as she replaced her usual favorite things with a "how to have a thrifty holiday season" special.  while this idea is all well and good, people want to see the ridiculous things oprah finds to give away (anyone remember those air-lifted $50
cupcakes from a few years ago?).  while her excuse was that is the lavish special was not appropriate in the current economy, having the special would have made the current situation better.  people like stability and the expected; oprah's change just makes times seem worse.  oprah's one gift to her audience was a gift about a man and his dog; she told everyone to give a copy to their friends with dogs, writing an inscription for both the dog and owner.  if i were to give a copy, the inscription would read "here's a book for you and your bitch, bitch," given the dog is a girl, of course.

what's hollywood's new star to do?
twilight star kristin stewart was snapped smoking something from a suspicious pipe just days after her new film became number 1 at the box office.  this and other pics can be found over at tmz.  kristin recently revealed that she didn't even want to read for the role of bella in what very may well be her breakout role; rather, she was pushed by everyone around her - agents, publicists, and even family.  it looks like the push has actually paid off, however it is unsure whether or not kristin is happy with her newly found fame. smoke on, kristin, smoke on...

November 25, 2008

day 8

beyonce is a bust
click here to watch one of beyonce's many performances of her single, "single ladies." if i were paying to see beyonce, i would hope she would do more singing.  while the star is known for her dance moves, you see a singer perform to hear them sing! this is at least the third rendition of the song i've seen recently and she doesn't even sing the chorus.  this makes me weary of ever going to see big b perform live.  does she actually sing or is she all into the production? and if she's just into the production, how about doing something a little flashier? at least britney knows how to put on a show will little to no actual singing.

speaking of britney...
the recovering queen of pop leaked the first few seconds of her new music video today.  "circus," the next sing of the star's album of the same name, is all about brit's life as a performer.  however, the song seems to take on a whole new meaning in the media circus she is currently living.  the single officially drops december 5th and the video will premiere on entertainment tonight. spears is currently overseas performing at a variety of german venues, working out songs from circus.  britney is set to perform on simon cowell's x factor just before making her american re-debut on good morning america

dancing has a new champ
brooke burke took the mirror ball trophy home tuesday night on the alphabet net's premier show, dancing with the stars.  brooke is the third female winner in the show's history and the second in a row.  burke, alongside partner derrick hough, beat out superbowl great warren sapp and and n'sync-er lance bass to become the new champ.  keep an eye of for the dwts tour coming to a town near you this summer, including lance bass and toni braxton from this season. hopefully toni's heart condition won't prove an issue on the tour, as she is also set to do a number of songs on the tour, including her hit "unbreak my heart."

November 24, 2008

day 7

magazine mania
it seems like today was the day to release the all important winter issue magazine covers.  here are a few of my faves from today:

rolling stone nabbed the pop princess for their new issue and usa today got the inside scoop on the issue. it looks like brit's interview was highly supervised, with all questions having to be submitted before hand and the pop tart never being allowed alone in the room with any interviewer.  at this point in time, brit's image is super sensitive and has to be groomed, similar to how angelina jolie has
restricted her portrayal in the media as of late; news recently broke that the female half of brangelina has tight restrictions on all her magazine articles. ange, like britney, has full control over what questions she's asked, what questions she answers, and what's said about her in the articles.  the rs cover is just one step in the promotional campaign surrounding circus

looks like the shape creative directors are not very creative, as they've recreated a cover from just last month...the star
ter wife and former will and grace star debra messing graces (i know, i'm punny) the new cover of shape, looking quite similar to last month's cover girl faith hill.  the hot mom talks about her love life (her husband is a producer on fx's damages) and about her new film nothing like the holidays, in which she plays john leguizamo's out of place wife at his family's holiday gathering.  check out debra in the latest episode of the starter wife over at hulu and see her erie similarity to mrs. tim mcgraw's cover here

today's biggest news came courtesy of the hill's resident villian couple speidi: spencer pratt and heidi montag.  the couple eloped in mexico earl
ier today, giving no advanced warning to neither family nor friends.  i guess when you don't have a real job, its easy to just skip over to mexico and get married.  the surprise nuptials go against the expected; heidi and spencer were expected to get married on camera in front of the audience that made them into who they were on mtv.  there's no word on whether or not mtv cameras were in cabo with the couple, but us weekly was there to cover it all.  maybe this is the couple's attempt to get their own newlyweds style reality show on the former music net?

a city girl hits the web
speaking of the hills, former costar whitney port launched her very own website today, officialwhitneyport.com.  with her own series (the city) coming to the airwaves in late december, whitney will be able to keep up-to-date with her fans online and show off and push her clothing lines, eva and a and whitney eve.  looks like someone is taking pages out of the lauren conrad guide to fame.  is a book deal in port's future, too? stay tuned.

gossip gets digital
e! online is reporting that a series of webisodes are in the work to give background on how the rufus/lily love story began on gossip girl.  it looks like the story focuses on lily's time in the sanatorium (not for mental disorders but one of the eating variety) and would explain how the should-they-or-shouldn't-they couple came to be.  this news comes at the same time a big death is coming to the small screen on the cw show; the development points all signs to the death of bart bass, as his character's brother has recently been on set.

November 23, 2008

day 6

all about the ama's
the american music awards aired live from los angeles tonight.  beginning with a preshow, hosted by easily distracted carrie ann inaba, that guy from the bachelor, and nicole scherzinger of the pussycat dolls, the awards was more like a giant concert.  the winners of the night are barely memorable, with alicia keys nominated in almost every category and chris brown taking home three awards.  the show had some of the biggest names in music performing, including the jobros, beyonce, taylor swift, miley cyrus (celebrating her sweet 16 today - closing the age gap between her and uber creep non-boytoy justin gaston), and natasha bedingfield.  the tension backstage had to be high, with jobro exes swift and cyrus being within 100 feet of the brother act at all times.  the biggest disappointment of the night was probably annie lennox's performance.  receiving a lifetime achievement award from justin timberlake, the former eurythmics front woman sang a depressing, one note song rather than a big hit like "broken glass" or "sweet dreams." if you're receiving a lifetime achievement award, play something the audience recognizes and that is a little more upbeat, okay? coldplay's performance should probably have closed the show, with a rain of paper butterflies coming from the ceiling in a constant stream that made a trashtastic mess; a custodial crew kept peeking their heads out from behind the set to see if they could clean up...instead alicia keys closed the show in a black-girl-power number, alongside queen latifah and some rando opera singer. the awards show seemed to focus on keys, even though her latest hasn't even made that much of an impact. oh well, the ama's signals the beginning of the big awards shows, meaning more performances and crazy antics to come.

teen witch: the musical
it looks like ashley tisdale, aka the tiz, is working on her own starring vehicle in an update of 80s camp classic teen witch.  breaking free (you see the pun there?) of her disney image, ashley will take the role of a teen witch (if that wasn't obvi by the title) in a musical adaptation of the coming of age story.  this news coincides with zac efron's newly announced kenny ortega footloose production. the tiz is also at work on a disney channel pilot based on her lift in retail before hitting it big in the hollyhood.  monique coleman is the only hsm alum to not commit to a new project. click here to take a listen to a song from the original version of the film.

abc does the grey's shuffle
in hopes to reboot their failing fall season, the alphabet net is retooling their lineup.  with the cancelation of pushing daisies and dirty sexy money, abc is moving the former wednesday staple private practice after its founding show grey's anatomy.  to reinvigorate interest in the franchise, the two shows will have yet another cross over later in the season.  this will move new semi-hit life on mars over to wednesdays to finish out the season with the rest of the current lineup.  the end of dancing with the stars's current season also means the introduction of yet another pointless season of the bachelor.  when will abc learn that none of the relationships are working? the current bachelor is a former contestant from last season's deanna edition of the bachelorette; deanna recently announced her split from her choice for true love.

that's all for now.
peace, love, and blogs.

November 22, 2008

day 5

no backwards doubt
gwen stefani launching pad no doubt plans to hit the road for a tour in 2009.  the band, who hasn't released any new material since 2004 hopes that playing for their fans around the country, and possibly the world, will help inspire their writing.  writing = songs = new album. this means we may see a little less of solo gwen.

mtv kicks tequila to the curb
tila tequila gross out fest a shot of love is no more. but, the franchise isn't dead; the former music net has hired "ikki twins" rikki and vikki to take the thrown.  the sisters will headline a double shot of love, which follows the same premise as the original version: 12 girls and 12 guys will vie for the attention and devotion of the two girls, hoping to be crowned reality show love television. is this really necessary? at least tila tequila had some sort of celebrity, but these girls are barely heard of.  why bother, mtv? why bother?

the weekend is full of twilight
twilight, the movie, looks to surpass the $70 million mark on its opening weekend.  the vampire themed movie, one of four in the sure to be film franchise, is the first teen related movie in years to have such a big opening.  it seems to me the interest in the mormon-penned books surged when news of the movie adaptation came out, which means this summer.  only a handful of people had been reading the books before 2008, even though they were introduced in 2005. look for the next three movies to be out in the next three years to capitalize on the recent fan surge.

bourne again
fans of the bourne identity franchise rejoice.  robert ludlum's spy series is officially property of universal.  this means the studio, not the author's estate, now owns the character and all related things, meaning more movies, books, and the like in the works.  originally a trilogy, universal will most likely push for more and more bourne screen time.  matt damon sure will not be out of work for long.

all the news from saturdays comes out on sunday and trickles out all week. no big messes yet...

check back tomorrow.

November 21, 2008

day 4

taylor swiftly moves up the charts
nashville must-have taylor swift has just accomplished something not seen in over 50 years - she's had six top-20 debuts in the last year.  and, by doing so, taylor has bested the jobros once again, who held the record with 5.  do you think taylor/her publicity machine is doing things just to rub in the brothers jonas faces? let that marinate.

another one bites the dust
jodie sweetin, most well known for her portrayal as stephanie "how rude" tanner on the 90s sitcom full house, is calling it quits with her husband, and father of her child, of nearly a year. sweetin's husband is credited with helping her get off meth and getting her life back on track. look out for jodie's book out next year...it should be like a dumbed down version of marsha brady (maureen mccormick)'s memoir from this fall.

cancelation = future?
pushing daisies now has a role model to look up to.  arrested development should be hitting the big screen sometime in 2009 or 2010.  the film will reunite the canceled fox sitcom's original creative team and follow the bluth family on a new neurotic adventure.

germany, look out
britney spears is headed oversees on monday for a mini tour in deutshland.  her backup dancers have already made the trip.  bspears will be able to test out her new material and work out dance numbers for her new tour. now that the popwreck has cleaned up her image and career, she'll be able to regain her place as the global pop princess.

tyra takes over the cw
tyra banks, in her quest for world domination, is doing something rarely seen in daytime tv - she's taking her show out of syndication.  the model/actress/producer/talk show host, in an attempt to help the struggling network, will start the 5th season of the tyra banks show on tv's youngest network, which is home to her other pet project, america's next top model. with multiple emmys for the show under her belt, the move is sure to boost ratings for the network which should really be called the tb (tyra banks network).

...fridays mark the beginning of the weekend for celebs. so stay tuned.

peace. love. and ghost towns.

November 20, 2008

day 3

oh-no-na, winona
the infamous saks fifth avenue bandit, winona horrowitz, better known as ryder, was rushed to the hospital in london yesterday after two fainting spells on her british airwaves flight from lala land. reportedly, the fallen star had overdosed on xanax, which she allegedly took to ease her fear of flying.  after having her stomach pumped, ryder was discharged from the hospital.  with the exception of this incident, the actress was finally on the upswing from the '01 shoplifting incident and will next appear in jj abrams's star trek as spock's mother.

turn the cameras away
overexposure much? forbe's has released its annual list of the most overexposed celebrities.
1. paris hilton
2. britney spears
3. lindsay lohan
4. dina lohan
5. pamela anderson
6. oj simpson
7. donald trump
8. miley cyrus
9. nicole richie
10. heidi montag
the list is basically a compilation of the biggest train-wrecks hollywood has seen since 07, finished off with stars that are slowly losing their pull in hollywood and need to stay in the spotlight of tabloid fame to keep their name in the world's lexicon.

britney bit
"my trust has really been battered...sometimes it can get kinda lonely...i had totally lost my way.  i lost focus.  i lost myself.  i let certain people into my life that were just bad people....because i was lonely...i really paid the consequences for that.  big time...what the hell was i thinking?"

entertainment weekly obtained this and other exclusive quotes from the bspears doc set to hit mtv at the end of november.  it seems like the pop princess is finally in a place where she can realize what she was doing with her life and recover from it all.  spears plans to hit the us, and most likely abroad, with a tour in the spring and summer with songs from circus, blackout, and her other hit records.  britney will begin her string of performances with a birthday debut on the december 2nd episode of abc's good morning america,  the rockefeller christmas tree lighting ceremony on nbc, and a possible early performance at the american music awards on sunday.

mischa online
out of work oc starlet mischa barton has decided to look to the internets for help in keeping her struggling career alive.  mischabarton.celebuzz.com officially launched today.  the "actress" plans to use the site as a place to connect with all 5 of her fans and update everyone on her philanthropic, aka fame-whoring, activities.

dancing's stars dim
dancing with the stars has lost a celebrity dancer in the form of julianne hough.  the dancer-turned-singer announced to ryan seacrest that last night's elimation of her and her partner, hannah montana star cody linley, would mark her final appearance on the show as a dancing parter.  hough plans to focus her efforts on her music career, with her self-titled debut album and target exclusive christmas cd currently in stores.  though, fans of the hough family rivalry on the show won't have to look too far for a new brother/sister duo - new pro lacey schwimmer's brother, benji, will be joining the show next season.

daisies dust?
the critically acclaimed abc dramedy pushing daisies, known for its brilliant plot lines and crazy production value, may have put a nail in its own coffin last night as it pulled in a series low in viewership, averaging just 4.86 million viewers.  the upside to this is that the show beat its rival timeslots for the advertiser adored 18-49 year old demographic.  click here to watch the latest episode and help the show stay afloat.

update: it looks like the show has been canceled, along with dirty sexy money and eli stone, two other shows from the alphabet net.  daisies will end with the second season's thirteenth episode, a cliff hanger. show runner bryan fuller says that he is in negotiations with dc comics and is working on a movie to wrap up any loose ends.  i'm hoping the show will make the jump to a cable network, like showtime or hbo, where its high level creativity will be better nurtured - abc is hungry for numbers, not fans.

the devil works overtime at the office
star magazine reports that former michael buble main squeeze emily blunt, from the devil wears prada, is now dating john krasinski from nbc's the office.  the two have been out of the dating game for four plus months, with krasinski's last relationship being with office costar rashida jones.  while it's still a new relationship, this one seems like it might last. and hopefully, it will.

November 19, 2008

day 2

wednesdays are big for news in the hollyhood, so let's get started.

taylor swift, queen of the charts.
now nashville's princess will hopefully stop rehashing that 27 second breakup phone call from joe jonas, because the girl's got the best revenge - a number one record that outsold the jobro's latest effort, being the biggest opening week for a female in 2008 - and the record hasn't even gone global yet!

click the link above to watch miley act like the 15 year old that she is when asked about her statutory rape relationship with 20 year old underwear model justin gaston...if she won't confirm or deny the rumors, then we'll just have to take this tom cruise-on-a-couch moment.

britney, fedex, and the paps.
why can't we just leave b-rit alone? well, because what fun would that be? in her new documentary, bspears calls her marriage to k-fed a mistake - they married for the idea of
marriage, not love.  and now it's come out that she and adnan ghalib, the "photographer" who she was involved with, are still in contact and her latest cd has a song about him - mmm papi. click here and take a listen for yourself - it sounds like a song for a desperate housewives or other abc dramedy promo.

update: looks like USWeekly made a booboo - mmm papi is just a rythmic style song, having nothing to do with adnan...oh well, still take a listen.

who that be?
when i caught this pic on the web today, i could have sworn it was tv bad girl shannen doherty out and about in hollywood.  the pursed lips, sunken cheekbones, and black hair say 90210 all over.  however, that's not the case.  we have a bad case of wig-gone-wrong.  this little lady is none other than current hollywood "star" lindsay lohan.  do celebrities really think they can be incognito with just a wig?  it's going to take a whole production studio's makeup and prosthetics department for any of the tabloid targets to go undercover.  valiant effort lilo, but next time just throw on some of samantha's flannel and  some of dina's makeup...it will work a little better.

time for a tv change.
the end of november signals tv reruns and the start of new programming - the mid season replacement.  come january and february, all the networks will try out new shows and get rid of some of the ones we're currently watching.  here's a few shows to look out for.

dollhouse, fox
dollhouse, from the creator of buffy the vampire slayer and angel, comes to your tubes february 13th.  its a cool mix of sci-fi and drama, with eliza dushku playing one of many "dolls," spies who can be programmed to have any personality and special skill.

scrubs, abc
the underrated sitcom makes a network jump in the spring to abc for its "final season." however, rumors have been circulating that the show could go on with a new cast - it's not very likely that jd and elliot are going to stick around for very long, as both of their real life couterparts - zach braff and sarah chalke - have relatively lucrative careers away from the show.

the untitled amy poehler project, nbc
hitting the airwaves in april, this former office spin off has taken on a life of its own.  snl funny woman poehler gets to show her acting chops, like seen in this summer's baby mama, in a work-place style sitcom.  the office's rashida jones has just signed on as a regular, but she will not be playing karen - she'll be playing a nurse, which makes me wonder if the show will take place in a hospital setting...

lizzie 2.0, nbc
no, that title is not real...its just wishful thinking.  hilary duff is headed to the peacock network with a multimillion dollar deal from nbc universal for her own show and the ability to guest star on any current show she wishes to.  the duffster will be able to pick from nbc's consideration lineup, looking at pilots and projects already slated for production and pick the best fit as her starring vehicle.  no word on when this show will make it to the screen. this marks the end of duff's disney era, with her current album being the last from hollywood records, an imprint of disney.

i guess there won't be a double wedding
paris hilton and benji madden have reportedly called it quits...however, the only sources are star magazine and a contestant from my new bff, which, of course, are incredibly reliable sources. needless to say, the story is still developing.

we have a new top model
mckey - real name brittany sullivan - was crowned america's next top model on tonight's finale of the cw show.  looks like we'll get to see her grin awkwardly through "my life as a covergirl" commercials for the next cycle, and then she'll step into obscurity with the show's other 10 winners.

November 18, 2008

day 1

celebrity gossip. it's a thing we are immersed into, whether we want to be or not.  for me, it's a lifestyle.  i thrive off of it; i love it; i need it - it keeps me going. that's why i've decided to start blogging about my witticisms (that's witty criticisms for my slower friends out there) about the world of pop culture.  so, let's jump into what's happened lately...

first of all, i've been greatly disturbed by all the disney dramz as of late - first lindsay, then miley, vanexxxa, and now a cheetah girl.  when will these girls learn that they represent the mouse house? that millions of youngins look up to them? i mean, i thought it was a general rule not to do blow and take nudie pictures, but apparently not.  it seems like some of the suits at disney ought to sit every new hire down and explain the general rules.

britney.  probs the fave person to be attacked by the paparazzi, the media, etc.  she seems to be getting her life back on track and the fact that she decided to do the "for the record" on mtv (november 30th) makes a lot of sense - she, like the queen of pop before her, has to reinvent herself and prove to the world that she's a new form of her old self.  plus, after listening to her new album (leaked online...) i can see that she's on the right track - while it's not a masterpiece, it's def what music is now and there's definitely a few marketable tracks - circus, lace and leather, and if you seek amy will probably hit the airwaves in the coming months.

the simpson family...wow. they're just an endless string of one form of press after another. hopefully ashlee pops out the wentz spawn soon (it seems like she's been preggers for years) and jessica just needs to stop the war with carrie underwood - you got the man, let her have the country career! and stop putting who knows what in your lips...you're a pretty enough girl on your own. next thing you know, the whole family is going to have a reality show - i'm sure papa joe will find a way to make it happen.

okay, those are my ramblings for today, just so you can get a feel for my stuff.  i'll be sure to do more topical, daily posts reflecting what's happening right now.

and p.s. two great shows on tv - pushing daisies (abc) and lipstick jungle (nbc)  - are in cancelation limbo, so please watch them - either online or live on tv.  send daisies into the execs at abc and lipstick tubes into the ones at nbc, too!

peace. love. and blogs.
