day 225

casting craze
as a lot of your favorite fall tv series head back into production, some crazy casting news is making its way out. desperate housewives hasn't started back up on production yet, but they are just about ready to roll. to fill the shoes of a now-dead edie (nicolette sheridan), sopranos star drea de matteo has landed the role of a feisty italian who moves to wisteria lane - with husband and kid in toe - to stir up trouble. with at least one of the housewives (either susan or catherine) getting married to mike delfino, producers wanted to add in a young, hot wife. plus, whenever a new cast member comes in, they usually bring a new mystery ... now that chris meloni and mariska hargitay are officially back on board for 11th season of their (and nbc's only) hit show, law and order: svu - they'll both be making about $400,000 an episode, making mariska the highest paid actress on tv - more casting is underway for the new season. the show has turned to a revolving door of sorts for the assistant district attorney spot. stephanie march, who was with the show from 2000-2003, is returning to ada alexandra cabot's suits later in the season, but christine lahti, who is known for chicago hope and was most recently seen in the beyonce thriller obsessed, will appear in at least 4 episodes as a fill in ada. sounds like quite the casting coup ... in more legal show news, lifetime's new original series, drop dead diva, which premieres this weekend and follows the trials (no pun intended) and tribulations of a supermodel who dies and wakes up in the body of a plus-sized lawyer, has nabbed liza minelli and designing women's delta burke to play dueling psychic sisters who take each other to court for opening competing shops across the street from one another. rosie o'donnel will appear in the episode with the actresses in a recurring role as the local judge ... the bitch is back on one tree hill. while she's been absent for the past 2 seasons, and thus about 7 years, daneel harris is returning to tree hill as her character rachel gatina. the show will take another time jump this upcoming season, jumping one year to better help explain the absences of chad michael murray and hilarie burton and the introduction of new characters, like nathan's sports agent played by lipstick jungle star robert buckley (who won the role out over brian austin green) and one of haley's older sisters who returns home. no word on how rachel will stir up some shit, but she is sure to due so. she'll make her first return appearance in the season's 2nd episode and stick around for at least 7 eps ... in more cw show news, 90210 has found their answer to the now fired dustin milligan's ethan. i think it's pretty safe to assume ethan is the kid who annie hit in the first season finale, as dustin was not invited back to the show for a second season and reportedly won't be making any story line wrap up appearances. to fill the golden boy role, the zip code serial has cast former soap star and abercrombie model trevor donovan. google him and you'll probably come to the same conclusion i did - he's just too old. but, oh well. it's tv and it's not like any of the other actors look like high school sophomores anyway. trevor will be a "heavily recurring" jfk jr type who works his way into the world of the characters we've come to know. the cw's biggest series, gossip girl, has cast former privileged (and reba) star joanna garcia to play a new love interest for nate (aka chace crawford). she'll be a southern charmer who has a history in beauty pageants. i guess that means joanna will be going back to her old, blonde look. i hope she is supposed to be an older character. again, she's a little older looking than the rest of the upper east siders ... and, finally, rapper/tv star/designer eve has taken on the role of a rival choir director on fox's new series, glee. the role was reportedly originally offered to whitney houston, but she turned it down to focus on her forthcoming album.

check the twitter for even more tv news.

June 29, 2009

day 224

miley is the new whitney
well at least in the eyes of the movie business. the disney darling is becoming quite that movie star, with the hannah montana movie under her belt and filming of her next big project, the last song, already underway. next up? personal security, a reworked version of the whitney houston star-maker the bodyguard. the new flick, which will pair cyrus with hugh jackman, would follow the exploits of a new york cop (jackman) who is forced to protect a spoiled heiress (cyrus) when death threats start to pour in. the movie probably wouldn't start production until next year, but cyrus and jackman have already started discussions with movie execs and were spotted dining together earlier this summer.

and...
one of my favorite songs this summer, "good girls go bad," by cobra starship and leighton meester has finally been joined by a music video. check it out below.

June 28, 2009

day 223

megan fox...
is one of the most bizarre individuals to me. sometimes she appears completely comatose in an interview; other times, she completely alert and on her game. then there's the whole thing with is-she-or-isn't-she telling the truth? megan has been known to say shit just to say it. but, friday night on jimmy kimmel, she seemed normal. and was, surprisingly, very talkative and had plenty of anecdotes to share. here's the 2 part clip.

June 27, 2009

day 222

sytycd pulls out all the stops
with this season including their 100th episode, so you think you can dance isn't cutting any corners. the idol-cousin dance competition has already wrangled itself a couple celebs for season-ending dance numbers - including katie holmes, who will be paying tribute to judy garland and broadway in her routine - and may have just nabbed another: paula abdul. the american idol judge won't be jumping ship forever, but is in negotiations to do a michael jackson-themed dance tribute on the show. each season, a paula rumor has hit the internets about her involvement with the dancing show; abdul got her start as a laker girl and was discovered by the jackson family in the 80s, working mostly with janet (see the video above to watch teacher v student) during the peak of her career. my question is what will become of jackson's big "comeback" concert series in england that was scheduled for just a few weeks from now? i can see some celebs getting together to do a series of tribute concerts, but how will they fill the 50 shows? that remains to be seen.

June 26, 2009

day 221

none.
with the sudden death of michael jackson yesterday afternoon, there really aren't any other stories to talk about. see you tomorrow.

June 25, 2009

day 220

watch this
there haven't been any stories i want to share today - i don't like talking about celeb deaths, but rip farrah none the less - so i thought i would show you the hilarious chelsea lately real housewives of new jersey: reunion parody that aired on tuesday. this east coast version of the housewives franchise has quickly become one of my favorites and the comedians of lately really get every character spot-on. the second half of the reunion special (which had a super tame first hour, sadly and surprisingly) airs tonight on bravo.

June 24, 2009

day 219

sarah jessica parker: mom of three
yesterday afternoon, sjp's surrogate gave birth to twin girls for her and hubby matthew broderick. the girls arrived into the world healthy, but who knows if they'll leave that way. they are now the daughters of two tabloid targets and were named - wait for it - marion and tabitha. yes, those are the names the couple picked out. i mean, is it really a surprise? they did name their son (now 6) james-wilkie. and, yes, they call him that; he's never just "james" or "jack," even though he probably should be. why celebrities insist on these bizarre names...i mean at least marion and tabitha are names that actually exist in the realm of baby names, but you're forcing these two to grow up to be an old lady and a stripper. hopefully they'll come up with cute nicknames for the duo, because i don't know any child who wants to go through life with those names.

d-list break up
two of mtv's biggest former stars have called it quits. ex-vj vanessa minillo and ex-98 degrees member/newlyweds star nick lachey have decided to amicably split, according to vanessa's publicist. why she has a publicist? i don't know. the couple had been together since meeting on nick's music video set back in 2006, right after his split from jessica simpson and her split from derek jeter. the couple, much like sjp and matthew broderick, had been the target of tabloid break up rumors for at least the last 2 years and never seemed to be in a happy place in their lives. but, who is going to pick up the scraps of this relationship? inevitably, i only see these two getting back together...because i can't see them with anyone else.

June 23, 2009

day 218

so far
i got nothing.

June 22, 2009

day 217

back to the small screen
after a semi-successful music career and a not so successful movie one, jessica simpson is returning to the medium that launched her career in the first place: tv. after the pictures to the left surfaced earlier this year, jessica simpson started a major media campaign to fight improper portrayal of body image. jess is continuing that fight the price of beauty, a tv show she conceptualized with her team. the show will premiere later this year on vh1 (apparently none of the non-cable networks wanted it - it was shopped to every major network before cable), which makes sense because jessica does have a successful track record with mtv networks - newlyweds was the mtv ratings winner before the hills premiered. beauty will follow jessica as she travels both the us and the world to try everything involving beauty in each of the places she visits - from fashion to food, she'll try it all. in a statement, jess said, "i am really looking forward to discovering how beauty is perceived in different cultures and participating in some of the crazy things people do to feel beautiful." so far, so good. i'll probably tune in for at least the first ep and we'll go from there.

June 21, 2009

day 216

concerts, concerts everywhere
a lot of the summer's biggest tours were kicked off this weekend and two of the biggest had some surprise performances in toe. lady gaga covered tour-partner kanye west's "heartless" during here gig and miley cyrus surprised thousands of screaming tweens when she popped out of the floor at the jobro's first show in their adopted hometown of dallas to sing her duet with nick, "before the storm." jordin sparks, who is touring alongside the jobros, also joined the boys on stage for a performance of her newest single, "battlefield." check out the videos below.

June 20, 2009

day 215

footloose finally on its way
while chace crawford has been confirmed for about a month now, his leading lady in the footloose remake has been mia - until now. julianne hough has been offered the role of ariel in the reboot and is said to be very close to signing a contract - she just has to check any scheduling conflicts first. um, julianne? remove everything else from your calendar. a movie debut in what is sure to be one of the biggest films of 2010 is way more important than singing at a couple state fairs. julianne beat out the likes of hayden panettierre and amanda bynes, but don't count them out quite yet. there are still supporting roles to fill, and i could see amanda as the comic relief in a lot of the scenes. the film is set to be released june 18, 2010, going into production this fall.

that's it for now...check back later

June 19, 2009

day 214

the jobros underwhelm
but larry king doesn't! while the veteran interviewer should probably do some more research before interviewing the jobros again, he really did hit hard with the questions. the brothers obviously weren't ready for personal questions and kind of flubbed up...a lot. larry king got the boys to reveal the rekindlement (like diablo cody said, what are they? 40 year old divorcees in akron?) between nick jonas and miley cyrus, got joe tongue tied, and make kevin utterly confused. watch the vid below to see most of it go down; miley cyru's name drop is about half-way through.

June 18, 2009

day 213

fame
because hollywood is not very keen on new ideas these days, filmmakers are continuing to relaunch franchise and remake classics. the latest flick to be redone is fame, the 80s musical-movie about kids in at a creative arts high school. just like the original, the cast is made up of generally unknown originals - the movie's first go around featured the likes of, well, no one you'll know, while this version features disney stars kay panabaker and anna maria perez de tagle (camp rock). some bigger hollywood names did come out, however, to take on the teaching roles; debbie allen is the only original cast member to return to the relaunch and is joined by megan mullaly and kelsey grammer. the movie won't hit the big screen until late september - the 25th - but the trailer is getting a prime premiere this weekend, before every showing of the sandra bullock/ryan reynolds comedy the proposal. but, if you won't be at the theater this weekend, here's the movie's official trailer. rather than a straight remake, this seems to be an update or sequel.

June 17, 2009

day 212

last night
was all about taylor swift. the cmt awards were held last night and t swift was all over them. in addition to winning for best female video and video of the year, taylor performed not one, not twice, but three times last night. the country-pop star opened the show with a "surprise" collaboration with rapper t-pain, in which "t swizzle" showed off her rapping skills - in addition to living out her other "dreams."

taylor took to the stage in the middle of the show to perform her latest hit, "you belong with me." like usual, taylor took inspiration from her music video for the song. the performance was good, but nothing will ever top her "should've said no" performance from last year's acms.

taylor finished off the night by performing with def leppard to their hit "pour some sugar," a song they collaborated on earlier this year on cmt's crossroads, a show that mashes up country artists with rockers/bands from other genres that started after the success of the bon jovi/jennifer nettles (sugarland) duet, "who says you can't go home?"

people's sexiest bachelors
people mixed it up a little this year, changing the name of their annual "sexiest bachelors" list to "hottest bachelors." big change, i know. this year's list is completely focused on young hollywood, another departure from the mag's usual. people's mean audience is women in the 30s, so it's interesting to see them trying to get the younger reader. but, i guess, the magazine has been trying to switch it up lately, with people "extras" focused on disney stars like selena gomez, demi lovato, and the sprouse twins. the list is headed by gossip girl star chace crawford; the only reason he made it to the top has to be his new leading role in the footloose relaunch. gossip girl may be buzzworthy, but it's not a big enough show to garner the cover of the biggest celeb mag. chace dishes on his relationship with carrie undewood - he just wasn't ready to date someone in the spotlight (mmhmm...) - as well as what he's looking for, which is apparently nothing. he says he's not actively looking for a relationship. doesn't he know he's supposed to play towards his audience; women reading the hottest bachelors issue don't want to hear that. chace beat out the likes of shia labeouf, chris pine, robert pattinson, and bradley cooper for the title, those the three of them also made the list. people comes to newstands this friday.

June 16, 2009

day 211

new music tuesday
today brings new offerings from mariah - "obsessed" - and a new video from miss beyonce for her newest single "broken hearted girl."   check them out below.  i'm not the biggest fan of either  - mariah could do a lot better and the beyonce song comes from the i am... half of her album, which was kind of unnecessary.

sorry i'm being lazy today.

June 15, 2009

day 210

heidi and spencer: the media attention continues
now that they're back from the jungle, heidi and spencer are making the media rounds to discuss their time on the show.  first stop?   nbc's today show, where the couple was interviewed by weatherman al roker.  now, i'm no al roker fan myself - he can get on my nerves from time to time - but he did just do his job here and speidi seem completely lost.  post-interview, all three parties involved took to the media and to discuss their feelings.  al roker tweeted (of course) "heidi and spencer are an interesting couple. famous for...being infamous. bad and vacuous behavior. i think we're at minute 11 of their 15," while heidi and spencer appeared on ryan seacrest's radio show, saying al "was incredibly rude and was verbally assaulting [heidi]... [heidi] would warn any people, especially women, who are going on the show to watch out for him." now, i've watched the interview, and i didn't really see al attacking heidi.  the way she reacts is like he came at her with a sharp object and said he was going to eat her.  these two really need to get their act together before no one will pay attention to them anymore.  i feel like they need attention to survive. heidi even said she would never be interviewed by that man again...why would al roker need to interview you again? oh, wait, there's more! so heidi and spencer appeared on the view after their today show interviewed and frustrated even more respected talk show personalities.  click here to watch that interview.  the couple have the hardest time answering simple questions and come off as completely uneducated, and not in a stupid-as-an-act way.  whoopi tries to warn the two that they may end up on the street if they don't get a hold of themselves, but the couple don't seem to get the message and take everything lightly.  can you say frustrating?

June 14, 2009

day 209

so far, there's nothing
but here's an inappropriate picture of suri cruise to cheer you up.

June 13, 2009

day 208

if this doesn't make you a glee fan
i don't know what will.  this new promo for fox's newest show, glee, shows a ton of clips from upcoming episodes, teasing story lines that look great.  if you missed the show's special sneak preview last month, click here to watch the entire ep.  glee, from the creator of nip/tuck (and the former wb show popular), will officially premiere this fall as part of fox's new line-up, wednesdays at 9/8c.

shedding the disney image

one fake presidential lapdance at a time.  keep it classy, tiz.

June 12, 2009

day 207

raging bitch, day 2
more from miss carrie prejean.

two twilight stars quit!
shocking right?  okay, they didn't quit the movies.  they've quit smoking.  it appears that the cancer sticks are an epidemic on the twilight set, with everyone from robert pattinson to kristin stewart puffing away.  sadly, those two aren't the ones kicking the habit.  instead, self-proclaimed "role models" nikki reed and ashley greene (rosalie and alice, respectively) are saying buh-bye to tobacco.  the girls see themselves as people who young fans look up to; so, when pics of the duo surfaced sucking the marlboros, they knew it was time for a change.  the girls are gradually becoming smoke free, sucking on prop cigarettes instead - ones without harmful chemicals - to ease away from the habit.  but, if they're photographed with these realistic, non-tobacco ciggies, isn't that just as bad as being photographed with the real thing?  anyone can say the cancer sticks are fake, but can we believe them? i'll be interested to see how this plays out.

June 11, 2009

day 206

raging bitch of the week
okay, i don't actually know if this will become a weekly feature, but i felt like the title was appropriate.  i haven't talked about carrie prejean on here at all because...well, i thought she was boring and getting way too much attention for just voicing her opinion.  but now that carrie has been removed of her title of "miss california usa" for a reason other than saying she's anti-gay marriage, i thought it was appropriate.  earlier this week, donald trump officially fired carrie from her title after continually breaking her contract.  basically, carrie was not showing up to schedule appearances approved by the miss california usa organization and doing unauthorized activities.  carrie's lack of responsibility even lead to pageant director shanna moakler stepping down from her position earlier this year.  carrie's legal team have said that allegations brought against carrie by the organization and trump are completely false, but some emails leaked to fox news say differently.  click here to read the full transcript - you have to start at the bottom of the page. the convo, which is between prejean and pageant director keith lewis, basically involves engagements carrie is expected to attend or simply offered.  from the looks of things, carrie is illiterate; keith lays out exactly what her meetings will be, but she doesn't seem to understand.  she also appears completely unprofessional; how do you include multiple exclamation marks and hahas in business emails?  is this an instant messenger conversation? um, i don't think so.  the evidence is all there in these emails, too - she obviously makes her own plans and disregards those she is contractually obligated to do.  other people have come out of the woodwork to support the trump/usa pageant organizations in this fight.  carrie's former agent called her "a little nutty," unprofessional, and unwilling to cooperate and fulfill obligations.  i'm ready to see prejean's next move.  btw, the miss cali org paid for the bubbies displayed in the photo above. at least she got one nice parting gift.

June 10, 2009

day 205

a girl next door plus one
kendra wilkinson is preggers.  yep, hef's former girlfriend is with child, getting married, and filming a new reality show all at one time.  fun, huh?  the 23 year old ex-centerfold revealed that she and fiance hank baskett are expecting their first child.  kendra says she wants to be a young mom and is already ready for more.  um...you have to have one popped out first to say things like that, right?  oh well.  the couple are set to wed june 27th at the playboy mansion, which i'm sure will be filmed for kendra's self-titled reality show.  kendra premiered last sunday to record ratings for e!, bringing in 2.6 million viewers.  i think that is only second to the anna nicole show. i haven't watched yet, but i'm sure i'll catch it in 469703967439873094716 reruns.

youtubey
do you remember danny noriega from last year's american idol?  well he's come out with his first single and video, "24/7," straight to youtube.  the song is basically a big f-u to idol and looks to have been produced at home.  still, it will probably get stuck in your head.  i don't know if that's a good thing or a bad thing.  either way, check it out below.

and, in other youtube video news, beyonce was joined on stage by 80s pop star george michael at the end of her london concert last night to sing her hit "if i were a boy."  why a boy is singing this song, i don't know.  but, hey, they sound good together.  though, i'm sure a lot of people seeing a beyonce  have no clue who george michael is - at least here in america.  but, trust me, you do - just youtube his name.  you'll find at least 3 songs you know.

June 9, 2009

day 204

if you missed jimmy fallon last night...
i am really sorry for you.  you missed one of the best talk show moments ever.  zack morris himself - mark paul gosselaar - made an appearance in all his '90s, bayside glory.  luckily, for you, the entire interview is available online and has been posted above.  you're welcome.  "zack" joked about how he "moved out west from indiana with his two friends and prinipal" - the first season of saved by the bell took place in indiana and was known as good morning, miss bliss and aided in jimmy's search to reunite the entire cast of the show by confirming that jessie spano (elizabeth berkley) was in on the reunion via giant cellular phone.  he also said that, sadly, he and kelly kapowski (tiffani theason)'s marriage broke up when "she moved to a different zip code (theason later appeared on 90210).  it also appears that zack and stacey carosi - leah remini - are now a couple.  good? bad? i don't know.  but i do know that only tiffani and screech - dustin diamond - are m.i.a. on the reunion.  hopefully they'll come over to the good side, too.  i would love to see that reunion.  isn't it weird that mark paul gosselaar looks exactly the same with that wig on?  weird.

check the twitter later for more little stories from today.

June 8, 2009

day 203

tweeted relation-ships
it looks like one hollywood couple has broken up while another is back together and quite possibly engaged. miley cyrus, in all her infinite wisdom, took to twitter to proclaim "yhy does saying good-bye hurt so much" and "life will go on. you will smile again...we will smile again." why the sadness?  it appears she and singing underwear model justin gaston have finally parted ways. yay! is it bad that i rejoice in miley's pain?  the duo reportedly have called it quits as miley will be away for the majority of the summer in georgia filming the last song. justin, as well, took to his twitter to proclaim "haven't been this miserable in a looong time."  if that's not a confirmation, i don't know what is.  and as for the lovers who are back on?  lindsay lohan and samantha ronson.  boo.  why? why? why?  lindsay, you have work to do (kind of) - get rid of this manwoman who only works at parties and clubs! gah.  the couple reportedly reconciled in london over the weekend and - wait for it - got engaged.  yes.  marriage.  there hasn't been any confirmation of the engagement, but lilo did - what else? - take to her twitter to say "leaving london but with my favorite favorite!!!-travel buddy & great news to share!! maybe…." again, if that's not a confirmation, i don't know what is.

June 7, 2009

day 202

just a thought...
i already don't understand twilight's kristen stewart.  and, the fact that she has been rocking the 7th grade tied t-shirt look lateley?  it's not helping her case.

i'm a hostage...i can't get out of here!
that's what nbc's i'm a celebrity ... get me out of here! is starting to look life.  after being forced to spend 2 nights in a cramped "torture room" as punishment for quitting the show, heidi montag-pratt has been rushed to a costa rican hospital after having convulsions and vomiting.  the reality star had the same rations as the celebs not in isolation - water, rice, and beans - but somehow suffered a stomach ulcer.  nbc reportedly wanted the whole infection/pain to play out on screen, offering incentives to speidi to not go to a hospital.  not surprisingly, the duo turned them down.  while heidi and spencer have been pretty douchey over the course of the show this far, i'm not sure letting someone die makes good tv.  when news broke of heidi's ailment to the rest of the cast, the remaining celebs reportedly banned together in an attempt to get off the show.  unfortunately for them, they have contracts with nbc and their passports have been taken away.  so, they really are hostages!  spencer - again, not surprisingly, wants off the show once again and has fired his most recent lawyer, who was asking speidi to stay with the show.  the couple is looking into legal action against nbc, but they do have an iron clad contract with the net.  i think filming the hospital drama would probably make a great companion series to i'm a celeb.

June 6, 2009

day 201

youtube musica
it looks like everybody is trying to get a piece of the twilight action, including musicians.  with the success of the first movie's soundtrack and editing beginning on the new moon sequel, some of today's top (and not so big) acts are angling for a spot on the soundtrack.  earlier this year, justin guarini (american idol season 1 runner up) released a song onto the internets in hope of getting some twilight attention.  here's his attempt, entitled "i can't live." the mop-topped tv guide reporter def went for the dark-vibe, but it seems too tailored to twilight.  and i don't know if anyone is really interested in hearing guarini - are you?  plus, any song lyrically driven is probably going to end up on the credits sequence - they're going to go for a big name.  i.e. last year's flick enlisted paramore, who had just had mondo success with "misery business," for their song "decode." plus, the band was probably an easy nab - they still aren't big enough to headline a tour on their own; they're opening for no doubt this summer.

and, now, justin's final two counterpart and from justin to kelly costar kelly clarkson is throwing her hat in the twilight music rink.  a single reportedly written exclusively for new moon (and sounding like a track straight from 2007's debacle of an album my december), "empty as i am" has hit the web.  it's a bit moody for my taste, but so is the whole twilight franchise.  i say clarkson is a safer bet over guarini - and i'm sure guarini is pissed as hell.  he was the only "artist" out there to have publicly released a song specifically for the film.  check out kelly's song below.

and, in more moody music news, a track selena gomez recorded "for fun" a couple years back, entitled "head first," has made its way to youtube this week.  selena took to her mytwitface (she used all three social networking sites) to deny rumors that the song has anything to do with her romance with jobro nick, but did say the song was about a childhood crush.  it's disney pop at its best, to say the least.  the thing i don't understand is that, in the beginning of her mouse house career, selena said she didn't want a solo singing career, but a band instead.  it seems like her tune has changed; s go is set to release her debut album in the near future on disney-owned hollywood records (home to fellow disney starlets [and friends/frenemies] miley cyrus and demi lovato).

selena also recently hooked up with dallas-based (selena is from the area) pop-rock band forever the sickest kids for a reworked version of their song "woah oh," similar to leighton meester's recent duet with cobra starship.  this is def a radio friendly (and not just radio disney) jam that's perfect for summer.  if this is any indication of what gomez's debut will be, she'll be pushing the disney envelope to the most rock it's been.

and, in related disney music news, here's a snippet of "before the storm," miley cyrus' collaboration with former boyfriend nick jonas, to be included on the jobros' new disc lines, vines, and trying times.  so nice that these two could work things out.  or, at the least, disney could negotiate a contract for them to sing together.  i smell a megahit, at least in the tween universe.

miley tweeted today that she and nick were "writing" another song together while they recorded a new eco-friendly promo for the disney channel, alongside selena, demi, and nick's brothers.

June 5, 2009

day 200

full house on the full screen
that is if john stamos has his way.  the now out-of-work actor (his latest show, er, went off the air in april) is looking for something new to develop and, like the rest of hollywood, he doesn't have any fresh ideas.  stamos is looking to bring the show that launched his career - the syndication friendly full house - into a feature length film.  in john's world, the flick would basically be a relaunch of the franchise, taking inspiration from the early seasons of the 1987-1995 series.  while nothing has actually been done to get this project rolling, stamos does have some casting ideas in mind - involving none of the original cast.  “i see steve Carell as danny tanner and tracy morgan as joey gladstone because he’s funny,” stamos reportedly said.  and in his role of uncle jesse?  james franco!  he's got big dreams.  but, if that cast can come together, i'm all for the relaunch!  and i can totally see the olsen twins making cameos (if they can get over their egos).  who else should be in the cast?  i would guess they'd find unknowns for the 3 daughters, though the dj character would be old enough for a "name" to play.  i just hope it's not miley cyrus.  there's no word if anyone else is actually interested in working on the project; at the least i can see abcfamily buying the rights to it (because they are the network that plays full house seemingly non-stop).  if the movie doesn't work out, don't expect a tv reunion in its place; stamos says he doesn't see the cast getting together anytime soon.  boo!

hills-relatedness
while i think the show is dead (no lauren conrad means the end, no?), the hills is still making tons of news.  well at least the people related to the show are.  reports broke today that new "star" kristin cavallari will be making $63,000 an episode - only two-grand less than lauren conrad.  really mtv?  your back-up is banking just as much as the original in a show that's on its last legs?  interesting.  does mtv really expect us to buy that kristin's entrance is natural?  completely unstaged?  either way, cavallari's eps begin airing this fall in what will most likely be the hills (thankfully) final hoorah.  as for heidi and spencer, they're still being toyed around in the costa rican jungle.  the terrible twosome's fate - after they quit i'm a celebrity... and then asked back in - still lies in the hands of their "fellow" competitors and we won't know what will become of them until monday.  though, i'm sure producers will keep them around for the drama.  and possibly joining them in the jungle?  heidi's sister holly.  speidi's fellow hills-mate, holly, has been flown to costa rica and is on hold until her sister and brother-in-law's fate is announced.  either way, she'll be added to the mix of stars in addition to newcomer daniel baldwin.  the show is definitely getting better - i basically just skipped the 2 hour premiere and caught the recap on the second episode.  so, i take back the whole not-watching-this-crap statement from earlier.  with not much on summer tv, it's definitely worth checking out...i think.  if you've missed any of the episodes, mtv is airing a marathon this weekend.  come on, you know you have nothing better to do.

this tv is, actually, full of summer tv.  well, at least sunday.  the tonys air on cbs pretty much all night, while e! premieres kendra (the girls next door spin off) alongside season 2 of denise richards, and lifetime premieres season 3 of army wives.

day 198

today's scooplets
nothing too big to report, just some random things.  first up, the video above.  joe jonas apparently promised fans he would do a "single ladies" dance before the jobro's new album drops later this month.  it's not the leotard that scares me, it's the fact that he actually put on heels ... if you want to waste money, miley cyrus is going on tour this fall (because her schedule isn't full enough).  the disney darling finishes up season 3 of hannah montana this week and then starts work on the last song, the latest nicholas sparks movie adaptation.  so, right after that, she'll head across the country with her brother (trace) and his band, metro station (last summer's "shake it").  woo.  click here for dates.  and, if that wasn't enough miley news for you, here's some more.  if you want to look like a teen poprocker straight off the disney channel, then head to walmart! miley has teamed with designer max azria (bcbg) to design a light for the store's new designer series (total rip-off of the target concept).  miley is the first teen star to be paired with a major designer for the project - designer norma kamali has a limited engagement line while taylor swift partnered with lei for sundresses and the jonas bros released a line of sweater vests.  the line ("miley cyrus & max azria" - it would be better if they just called it "miley and max") will feature everything from shoes to shirts, pants, and accessories, all under  20 bucks.  oh, walmarts also sponsoring the concert tour.  coincidence? ... that's it for now.

day 197

speidi runs for the hills
these two dumbdumbs couldn't even last 2 days in jungle! literally! the hills' heidi and spencer pratt have quit the nbc reality show i'm a celebrity...get me out of here after just one episode (and 2/3ish days). the mtv duo were under the impression they would be living in dressed down five star bungalows. when they wound up at their camp site and found hammocks, wood bunks, and a toilet they were responsbile for cleaning, the pampered stars couldn't help but leave. show producers were able to talk heidi and spencer back into competing the first two times they quit (reminding them that the show is all in good fun and that they were competing for charity), but the third time was the charm for the pratts. the couple will make one final appearance on tonight's episode (yes, the show airs 4 days a week for 4 weeks) to say their goodbyes and then head back to la. i see a today show interview in the morning! no replacements have been named for the couple (who said they were surprised with the caliber of stars they were competing against - did someone forget to tell these two they're on a fake reality show? hello! heidi reportedly was expecting bigger stars, the caliber of k-fed...because that's better than janice dickinson), but a decision should come shortly from the peacock net. of course no self-respecting celebs made the trek to a remote jungle! only people like heidi and spencer are stupid enough to do something like this! oh well. rumors are circulating that steven baldwin's brother, daniel, will be joining him in the jungle as one replacement. the other? producers are apparently trying to convince on of speidi's castmates from the mtv series to venture into the jungle. audrina! audrina! audrina! wouldn't that be entertaining? i could barely sit through the first ep of the show and probably won't watch it - i'll just check the best clips online - but i'm really not interested now that heidi and spencer are gone! what's the point?

day 196

mtv movie awards: who won what, how?
mtv hosted the 2009 movie awards last night and it went off without a hitch (and finished on time!).  the whole thing should be streamable above - though that vid might just show you the opening - but you can catch the whole thing over at mtv.com. be warned, it's in 42 parts! so who won?  andy samberg of snl hosted the shebang and came full circle in a way - samberg was one of the writers of the show in the early 2000s and was discovered by then host jimmy fallon.  pretty cool, huh?  basically twilight won everything.  okay, not really, but close - with 5 out of the big awards.  check out the whole list below.  and i def recommend watching the whole show - there's some prime moments, like when sasha baron cohen (as bruno) basically 69'd eminem (the whole thing was reportedly staged, but audience members didn't think so) and abigail breslin looked disgusted when miley won for best song.  oh well.  until next year (or the vma's in the fall!).
