day 348

are you in an "empire state of mind?"
remember the vmas finale performance? the one where lil mama popped out of no where in the middle of jay z and alicia key's performance? yeah. well the music video for that song ("empire state of mind") has finally premiered.

happy halloween!

day 347

britney spears is still the music video queen
with the exception of the problem that is "gimme more," britney spears has come through with really good, creative music videos. the latest, for new single "3," doesn't disappoint. though, i'm confused as to why her hair looks the way it does. did it not grow back well post-head shaving and now she has to do craptastic weavestentions? whatever it is, it needs to be fixed. for a song about threesomes, the video really is surprisingly not overtly sexual. sure she's in a lace unitard, but who isn't these days?

taylor swift gets pranked
in the halloween spirit, ellen degeneres pulled one over on tswift. and she pulled it off well. check it out above.

day 346

rumer willis goes gay
it looks like bruce and demi's daughter may finally have an acting job that lasts more than a day. rumer willis is being brought back to 90210 for quite the story line: sexual experimentation. what started off as a one-off guest spot has turned into a recurring gig, with rumer's character gia, a reporter for the west beverly blaze, turning one of the shows star characters, adrianna, to the other team. so, if you're keeping track, adrianna has gone through being a drug addict and rehab, becoming a teen mother and giving the baby up for adoption, and taking navid's virginity and then dumping him for her ex. what else can they put this girl through!? originally, 90210's navid was supposed to be a gay character but the network scrapped that idea for fear of turning off viewers. i guess now that the show has an established fan base, and a new showrunner, they're willing to experiment a little. and don't think this is just some ratings stunt (though it does seem to fall during sweeps?). the creative team wants viewers to know that this will be a real relationship, not just a "fling." hmm...sounds a lot like a storyline mischa barton had on the oc, no? at this point, rumer's guest stint is open ended and might even turn into a regular gig. 90210 returns with new episodes this tuesday.

music madness
so much music related news broke today. album covers, music videos and new projects all took headlines. first up, album covers. rihanna's thanksgiving week debut, rated r, looks like it will be very dark. i already had that assumption from lead single "russian roulette," but i was hoping for some lighter, pop fare a la "umbrella."
i just hope dark and tortured riri isn't here to stay. that's a far cry from her "pon de replay days" adam lambert, aka american idol's runner up, also revealed the cover art for his debut, for your entertainment.
what a tranny hot mess. who does adam think he is? olivia newton john in xanadu? pretty ridiculous, but so is the music video for adam's lead single, "time for miracles," which is included on the 2012 movie soundtrack.
i'm sorry, is it 1988? i'm very confused. between the album cover and music video/single, i know that when i said adam lambert could never be a pop star i was right. who is listening to this? it sounds like a cast off bon jovi ballad.
in better music video news, chris brown (featuring swizz beats and lil wayne) debuted the video for his new single "i can transform ya." his new album is reportedly inspired by the transformers film series and that's pretty evident in the new music video. check it out for yourself above.
my favorite ryan sheckler/jesse mccartney hybrid, 15-year-old, justin bieber released a new song today, "love me," which samples the 90s hit "lovefool." this song actually makes me kind of like justin, but it's weird to hear children sing about love. i had this same conundrum when jojo came out talking about getting out of a relationship. um, where are you getting this experience? i also don't buy that he's 15. maybe in dog years.

and, finally, the new project i teased is nick jonas' new solo record. working with a back-up band called "the administration" (nick's nickname is "mr. president), a song is expected from the youngest member of the jobros before the end of the year. in an interview with parade magazine, momma jonas let the news slip, saying nick was actually at the photo shoot for the cd's cover art. with eldest jonai kevin tying the knot in the next couple of month, does this mean the jonas brothers are no more? that's unknown, but i can't imagine they'll be able to maintain their squeaky-clean tween image for much longer. a 21-year-old still pretending to be in high school is just a little bit creepy. ok, it's a lot a bit.

October 26, 2009

day 343

just a thought...
am i the only one who doesn't get ricky gervais? i understand he's the creative force behind the office and the show has a big cult following (i'm an occasional viewer, but the mockumentary style can be nauseating - as can michael scott) and is revered in britain, but i just don't get his appeal. all of his movies - from ghost town to the invention of lying - have been relative flops and his two "critically acclaimed" seres (the uk version of the office and hbo's extras) both ended their runs after 13 episodes (i.e. before their staying power could be established). and, when the award shows roll him out to present an award, his jokes just fall flat or come across as harsh, which i guess is the "british humor" americans just don't get. the reason i'm writing this is because ricky has been tapped to host this year's golden globe ceremony, an awards show that hasn't had a host since 1995 (and that's the way i like it). the golden globes is one of my favorite shows because it honors both tv and movies, with categories for comedies and dramas in each. the fact that they are host-less is a plus, too; it means i don't have to sit through awkward jokes that slow down the show. but, come this january 17th, i'm going to have to sit through ricky gervais making awkward and annoying commentary throughout the show. am i alone in this boat or are there other people who just don't get gervais?

October 25, 2009

day 342

footloose hits another bump
i think we should start calling the footloose remake the movie that will never get made. after losing leading man zac efron earlier this year and an extensive search for the female lead, the movie seemed like it was back on track when chace crawford and julianne hough finally committed. then the movie stalled. production was set to start this fall, but buzz on the project went silent when production was pushed back until march. supposedly, julianne hough needed work in the acting department and getting her on track caused the push back. and, now, there's yet another stall put on the movie. director kenny ortega has dropped out. known for choreographing dirty dancing and directing the high school musical trilogy, ortega pulled out of the project after disagreements with the studio over budget and tone, according to variety. ortega was expecting a $30 million budget with a lot of emphasis placed on big time musical numbers. the studio, on the other hand, wants to spend less than $25 million with the musical numbers playing second fiddle to the dramatic storyline. the stage production that the remake is based on is very much a musical, with big numbers and bright colors, so i would figure ortega's vision would be what the studio wants. dark and dreary with little emphasis placed on the musical numbers? uhmm...how does that differentiate this version from the kevin bacon original. the studio is reportedly starting a search for a new director on monday. all these problems just scream to me "give up!" but the other part of me wants to see this movie happen just to see if they can pull it off. or if it's just going to blow up. either way, kenny should wind up find. he directed the michael jackson concert film this is it, set to hit theaters this week. expectations are high for the flick, both fan and revenue wise.

October 24, 2009

day 341

glee-king out
with the holiday season just around the corner, the creative forces behind glee are hoping to make the fox tv series this year's favorite stocking stuffer. with the already announced cd release packed with the most popular songs from the first half of the season, the show's first 13 episodes will also be released in time for christmas as glee: season 1, volume 1. that means current fans will be able to relive the first half of the premiere season before the back 9 episodes premiere at mid-season and new gleeks can be converted. but, that's not all. the cast will also release a cover of wham's "last christmas" just for download - it won't even be a part of the show. this is a huge move along the lines of the brady bunch. with the brady bunch, the kids sang on the show sometimes but also toured the country with a series of songs never performed on tv. with the amount of money glee singles have been pulling in on itunes, this move is pretty genius. the cast concert is in the planning stages, too, set for a summer 2010 tour. there's no word whether or not the cast will be performing in character or not, but i think that would be another genius move. it would be like watching an extra episode of the series live! and in even more branding and expanding, columbia records has a deal with the show to sign any of the talent to solo deals. columbia is the company putting out the series' soundtracks and made sure that the talent clause was in their contract with fox and glee. sounds like glee is going to become the first tv franchise outside of the disney-verse to hit every sector of the entertainment industry.

October 23, 2009

for all you twihards
it seems like the producers have displayed every single clip from this movie already. continuing to drum up buzz for a movie that people will see no matter what, the creative forces behind the twilight series have released the first real clip of the volturi (the "bad" vamps for those of you who don't read the series). check out all the creepy, poor acting above.

October 22, 2009

day 339

ashlee simpson heads to the unemployment line
just yesterday, execs over at the cw announced that an additional 5 episodes of melrose place (and 9 more eps of the vampire diaries, their biggest hit ever) had been ordered in addition to the in production 13. and, today, the creative forces behind the show are making some major changes to the apartment-themed dramedy. my guess is that these changes may have resulted in the episode pick-up. two of the shows current stars - ashlee simpson and colin egglesfield - are being let go. why change a show that works? well, because it's not working - and, yes, there's a distinction. by "work" i mean the show is creatively strong, but it's not "working" because no one is watching. the duo of simpson and egglesfield are victims of wrapping up the season-long murder-mystery plot early. yep, the "who killed sydney?" question is now set to be answered in december instead of may. according to exec producers todd slavkin and darren swimmer, ashlee and colin's characters were only going to be around through the mystery because they play the most vital roles. uhm, is it just me or does that mean one of them did it? or both? i mean (if you watch the show) we've been lead to believe they're involved, but we don't know for sure. i also think this creative turn around has to do with the series finally nabbing heather locklear.

the original melrose placer was originally asked back for the murder-mystery plot but passed because why would you want to kill of the defining character of your career? that left the door open for laura leighton's sydney's return and resurrection - the character died in the original show. once the execs were able to land locklear, it's understandable they want to shift the focus to her. rumors are circulating that locklear is returning as "special guest star," the same title she held when she was a series regular on the original series. slavkin and swimmer say heather's amanda woodward is around indefinitely and has more to do than just torment ella (katie cassidy, above) at the pr firm they work at. also, in the post-murder-mystery era of melrose 2.0, the show will become more light hearted and comedic. basically, it will be an entirely different series. s and s are explaining all these changes as just the normal evolution a show takes, but i see it as the ceedub handing down some orders: change or be canceled. the beautiful life: tbl anyone?

October 21, 2009

day 338

dancing with michael jackson
last night, dancing with the stars paid tribute to the late king of pop through a dance medley of some of his greatest hits. it's been four months since mj died and, needless to say, the tribute was a little late. i guess it's good to remind people of michael 1) around the time they'd probably start to forget and 2) around the time of his concert movie, this is it, being released. the dance isn't horrible, but it's not like it 's all that entertaining either. and bringing out latoya jackson was just unnecessary. does she have some sort of contract with abc? she got to guest host the view and now this? too much latoya.

new music: chris brown and john mayer
after the release of rihanna's new single yesterday, chris has taken the opportunity to one-up her. first, he announces he'll be going on a fan appreciation tour starting next month. and now he's released another new song from his upcoming album, "crawl." a few weeks ago "transform ya" leaked online. it's reportedly the first single from chris' upcoming album. "crawl" is better than rihanna's new offering and in line with chris' previous music outings. check it out above.
after a lukewarm reception to lead single "who says," john mayer has released both a new song and video today: "heartbreak warfare." the song is much better than "who says," but in the same droopy duldrums genre. i miss the happy, go free sounds of "bigger than my body" and "your body is a wonderland," not this sad mopey stuff. what did jennifer aniston do to john that he's so emotional? check out the song above and pray that there's at least one upbeat track on john's upcoming release.

October 20, 2009

day 337

rihanna plays "russian roulette" with her career
after two years with the same material, rihanna is back with new single "russian roulette." the song is off rihanna's upcoming album (tentatively titled the wait is ova) out next month and, well, it's kind of a disappointment. while i wasn't expecting her to recreate the success of "umbrella," "russian roulette" probably wouldn't have even made the cut on her last album. penned by hit maker neyo, "roulette" is a dark ballad that is just kind of hard to listen to. the more i listen to the song, it grows on me, but it's still uncomfortable. the whole thing sounds like its building up to an up-tempo section, but it never gets there. i'm all for pop stars getting experimental, but make something that will sell, please. hear the song for yourself above. i'd much prefer another "take a bow" to this. plus, i don't exactly like to think about death when listening to music. the final gunshot that signals at the end of the song is just disturbing. i'm guessing rihanna hasn't been in a happy place since the whole chris brown incident?

jonas brothers like to "bounce"
the jobros have long been known to give back to their fans in multiple ways. while in vancouver filming the second installment of the camp rock series, the brothers took some time out of their schedule to film a viral video. check out the music video to "bounce," a fake song by a "cool new band" above and look out for miss demi lovato's cameo. i had no clue nick could be funny.

October 15, 2009

day 332

blurbity blurbs
here's some small stories floating around right now ... taylor swift is set to host saturday night live on november 7th. this will be swift's second appearance on the show and her first attempt at hosting. while snl hasn't been all that great this season (it's actually been pretty lame), i'm guessing that taylor will be able to brighten the show a little. and i cannot wait to see the show's take on the whole kanye west fiasco. taylor said she hopes to incorporate some of the funnier things that have happened in her life in recent months, so i can't see the writers passing up an opportunity to poke fun at that ... it looks like the saga of jon and kate will finally becoming to an end. well, at least on tv. the new york post is reporting that tlc has officially run out of new material to craft episodes after jon halted production on the show when it was announced that it would be retitled (just) kate plus 8. while i'll be sad to not hear the mispronunciations of the word alligator and the phrase "my buddy," this is probably best for everyone involved. the show has become such a spectacle and seemingly staged that it's just not fun to watch anymore. plus, kate has a development deal with the network and is apparently working on a show just centered on her. no word on whether or not it's a docu-series again, but it will help tlc keep the gosselin "brand" alive ... and finally, it looks like the spice girls are reuniting once again. last year, the 90s girls group reunited for a world tour that was supposed to serve as the goodbye they never got to give their fans. but, now, it seems like the 5 girls have been bitten by the creativity bug again. however, the manner we get to see the spice girls again may be a little different. britain's daily mirror is reporting that geri (ginger spice) wants to develop a stage musical about the group's rise to fame. basically, it would be a shallower, modern, and female version of jersey boys. if the show actually takes off, i'd be surprised. there is bound to be an audience for this, but i don't see it as a long lasting stage show. currently in development, geri and her bandmates are reportedly seeking out 5 unknown actresses to take on their personas. should be interesting. without a name attached, the show is even less likely to garner attention beyond the whole spice girls thing.

October 14, 2009

day 331

billy ray's rap response
okay, it's not really billy ray, but i'd guess, if he did make a response to miley's twitter rap, it would be pretty similar to this parody by jimmy fallon. check it out above and get your dose of lol for the day.

October 13, 2009

day 230

leighton meester wants "somebody to love"
gossip girl's leighton meester's first official single ("somebody to love") has dropped and, well, it's just blah. after making her musical debut as the featured artist of one of the summer's hottest songs, cobra starship's "good girls go bad," i was expecting a lot more from leighton. the single, which features r&b sensation robin thicke, has a retro vibe but relies little on vocal talent. leighton does this bizarre sing/speak thing for most of the track and, when she does sing, she's drowned out by thicke. i'm also confused as to what the genre leighton is attempting is. the song isn't straight forward pop, isn't soft rock, and isn't r&b. it's a weird combination of the three. check it out above and listen for yourself. hopefully leighton's whole album won't be as conceptual as this single. and, hopefully, a second single is released sooner rather than later so that miss meester's singing career doesn't crash and burn before it even gets off the ground. the song will probably get some play at the clubs - i see at least 10 remixes in its future - but i don't see it taking off on radio. it's too slow and not catchy enough, mainly because the only hook is the repetition of "somebody to love."

glee to bring glee to a city near you
this is probably some of the best news i've heard in a long, long time. the creative team behind glee is reportedly putting together a summer concert tour featuring the cast that would bring the show choir routines we get to enjoy each week on the show to life. while it's still in the early planning stages, talk of a tour have been around since the show's preview episode last spring. while it hasn't been a complete ratings darling, glee has held solid with about 7 million viewers per week. add to that the amount of dvr playback it gets and the crazy amount of money the songs are raking in on itunes, it's a no brainer that there are plenty of people out there that would be willing to shell out some cash to see the likes of lea michelle and cory monteith rock it out to "don't stop believe it" live. this is extremely good news after the cast's recent boot from the macy's thanksgiving day parade. while no contract had been signed, the cast was reportedly offered a verbal deal by macy's to appear in the parade next month. the problem? the parade is broadcast by nbc and the peacock net allegedly wasn't too keen on promoting another network (that is beating nbc) and it's star show of the new season. while nbc has promoted other competing casts in the past (american idol, high school musical), it was after they had become a phenomenon in their own right. glee creator ryan murphy responded to the boot with, "i completely understand nbc’s position, and look forward to seeing a jay leno float,” an obvious jab to the network's recent turn to shunning original series. getting rid of 5 hours of primetime tv has been a big issue in hollywood's creative community and many aren't interested in sending their projects to the network. if nbc keeps it up, they may not have any new shows (or hits) to stay afloat much longer.

October 12, 2009

day 329

youtubing
there's a couple videos making the rounds today featuring some famous faces. first up, sarah silverman and her plot to end world hunger. in the video the star makes the seemingly brilliant idea (unless you're catholic) to sell the vatican. yep, the whole thing. my favorite line? "maybe it's time to move out of your house that is a city." check it out - and possibly get offended - below.

the other video getting attention is of amy winehouse making a not so triumphant return to performing on britain's version of dancing with the stars, strictly dancing. the rehab-ed star joined the show for one night to support her god daughter (yes, someone entrusted their daughter's life to amy winehouse) dionne bromfield, an up-and-coming singer over seas. it's a good thing that amy wasn't the main draw because, well, it probably wouldn't have been that great. whoever decided to give amy winehouse choreography must have been under the influence because it was definitely not a good idea. it just drew attention to her...lack of coordination. the singer's voice was barely audible either, leading many to speculate her mic was turned off completely. there's also a rumor that amy wanted to appear healthier and did so by - wait for it - getting breast implants. the skinny star was reportedly in the hospital just a week before recovering from the surgery that allegedly took her from a small b cup to a d cup. i couldn't really tell in this video, but a surgery fix is not the same as actually getting healthy, amy.

October 10, 2009

day 327

miley cyrus explains why she deleted her twitter
and i don't buy it.

October 9, 2009

day 326

taylor swift turns "fifteen"
teen country sensation has released her latest music video for new single "fifteen." i don't have really anything to say other than check out the video above. it has some really cool video effects, but who is buying taylor (and bff abigail) as 15? seriously. i wanted to see how they brought the lyric "gave away everything she had" to life and, well, i'm disappointed. i still don't understand to what extend abigail went, taylor! i wonder if letting abigail actually be in the music video was taylor's way of making up for talking about her life in a song, too?

October 8, 2009

day 325

kate gosselin is likeable!
in the continued war of team jon versus team kate, it looks like kate is continuing to win. not only is she getting the exclusive interviews with big time media outlets like the today show (john has been saying his piece to the insider and entertainment tonight), but she also knows how to poke fun at her image and not be a walking contradiction. jon says he hates fame, yet makes appearances at hollywood's millions of milkshakes store to make a milkshake in his honor (previous milkshake makers include miley cyrus, lindsay lohan, and latoya jackson). kate, on the other hand, took some time out of her schedule to film a funny parody for jay leno's new show. while i doubt many people saw it live, the video has gone viral. i like when people in the public eye don't take themselves seriously and can play along with those who are laughing with them, not at them. check out kate in the skit above and get your laugh fix for the day.

in some sadder news...
it looks like we won't be getting any daily words of wisdom from miss miley cyrus anytime soon. the disney darling has officially deleted her twitter. while the reasoning is unknown, it looks like peer pressure got the best of miley. apparently, her new boyfriend - the last song costar liam hemsworth - is anti-twitter and told miley she should lay off the cyber sauce too. cyrus went on - what else? - a twitter rant about the whole debacle and officially removed herself from the site last night/this morning. this lead to a domino effect, with cyrus's momma - tish - taking her page off the site as well. the only remaining cyrus on twitter is brother trace ... and, really, who cares what he's saying!? i want my moody miley tweets back. hopefully miley departing cyberspace won't lead to fellow disney star demi lovato peacing out, too. i need at least one tweeting child star on to keep myself feeling normal.

October 7, 2009

day 324

why, ashley tisdale? why?
ashley tisdale has released the music video from her latest single, "crank it up," and i have no clue why. the single is fine - it's a catchy, dance-pop tune - but i don't understand why ashley tisdale is the one singing it. a graduate of camp disney, ashley is in that limbo of where one goes after their done with the mouse house. she's no longer the spunky teenager from the disney sitcom, but isn't a leading lady in hollywood either. i can't imagine radio disney is playing this music and i know our everyday, top-40 stations don't have the tiz in their cycle. so, where does this music get heard? are they making money off of this? it just doesn't add up to me. plus, the music vid for "crank it up" is one big mess. for some reason, someone slapped some black angel wings on ashley's back and told her to dance around in a dingy hotel room. what that has to do with listening to music and going to a club, i don't know. it seems like ashley may have cut her mickey mouse strings too soon. had she stuck with the disney channel, i'm sure she could have had her own tv show, movie series and so on. what any of these disney stars are thinking when they sign record contracts, i don't know. it's only the one in a million (hello, miley cyrus) who actually gets to reach more than just the tween audience. better take note, aspiring tween sensations.

j. lo out, lola in
it looks like jennifer lopez is reinventing herself once again. who does she think she is, madonna? not quite, more like beyonce. jennifer has decided to take on her own sasha fierce-esque persona in the form of "lola," her new alter ego. the reinvention campaign began this morning with the release of lola's first single, "fresh out the oven," which features pitbull. it's the kind of music you expect from j.lo and fits right in with her pre-existing music catalog. so why release it as lola and not as jennifer? i have no clue. it seems like this "lola" business is going to blow up into a pretty big thing though. in addition to the single, whoislola.com has been launched along with twitter.com/_whoislola. i'm guessing that, because jennifer has been removed from the music scene for such a long time, they want to drum up buzz with this crazy scheme. it could work, or it could turn into another garth brooks/chris gaines debacle. google it if you have no clue what i'm talking about. the who is lola? campaign is reportedly going to culminate in a jennifer lopez hosted snl featuring musical guest lola. hopefully we won't have to wait until then to get an explanation for lola.

October 6, 2009

day 323

casting news!
i know, you're excited. i haven't talked about show casting news a long time now. but with midseason filming approaching, shows are getting underway in casting for sweeps and recasting roles. first up, nbc's parenthood. parenthood was supposed to be nbc's best and brightest show of the new season, until it was plagued with problem after problem. the first problem occured when the show was filming its pilot and the nbc exec in charge of dramas dropped dead on set. that pushed production back a couple days. then, when the show was about to begin production on the regular season, star maura tierney was diagnosed with breast cancer and production was stalled again and the show was pushed from being the keystone of the fall schedule to midseason, premiering in january or february of next year. when tierney's prognosis was worse than expected, and her treatments were going to impede on the show even more, she completely dropped out of the project. it's been a little over a month since tierney's departure was confirmed and, in that time, the parenthood execs have been struggling to find a new leading lady that will renew interest in the show. in the running currently are two big names: helen hunt and lauren graham. while this would mark helen hunt's return to network tv, it looks like graham is more likely to nab the part. graham already has a contract with the network (a show was developed for her, but it didn't make it past the pilot process). graham is familiar with the single mom role she'd be playing on parenthood after 9 seasons on the wb's and gilmore girls, and seeing her in a more dramatic role would be an unseen twist. plus, graham adds some more interest as she is a tv cult-follower's dream casting coup ... and, in grey's anatomy news, the producers have landed 24 and lipstick jungle's kim raver as a new surgeon at the hospital who has a connection to owen's past. kim will pop up mid-season and be on the show in a recurring basis, with the option to become a full time cast member much like jessica capshaw's dr. arizona robbins. should be interesting, but it seems like kim has been the angel of death for many shows on television lately. hopefully she won't be grey's jump-the-shark moment.

October 5, 2009

day 322

gosselin update: kate speaks
i don't really have anything to discuss today other than i don't understand anyone who is "team jon" in the jon and kate debacle. kate appeared on the today show this morning to discuss jon's recent actions, including draining the couple's joint bank account of almost all funds. as far as i am concerned, kate is not an actress and the emotion she shows in the interview is real. check it out below.

October 4, 2009

day 321

jon gosselin, bank robber
okay, okay. he's not really a bank robber, but he's pretty close to becoming one. word surfaced today that jon emptied out his and kate's joint bank account of everything but $1,000. he took out hundreds of thousands of dollars and left kate with just 1 grand to scrape by with 8 kids. jon is in direct violation the arbitrator in charge of j and k's high profile divorce and kate is left with little money to pay all the family's bills. while the kids' separate account was left untouched, that doesn't mean jon had any right to the money. how is it any more his money than kate's? jon recently appeared on larry king and said he was turning over a new leaf, attempting to set a new example for his children. obviously, he's doing a great job so far. jon also said that he didn't want his kids to participate in the show anymore and that's why he shut down production on the newly revamped kate plus eight. funny how all this didn't come up until after tlc announced they were parting ways with the gosselin patriarch. if he's trying to prove that he's a stand-up guy, he wouldn't have 1) been so public with his remarks about kate, 2) become douchey mctoolbag, and 3) emptied out the bank account. where does he think the money came from? too bad all this drama isn't currently being filmed for the tlc series.

October 3, 2009

day 320

battle of the real housewives
there's nothing to really talk about today, but i thought i'd post these videos for you to check out. the real housewives of orange county (well, at least three of them) popped up on jay leno's new show this week to partake in a special edition of "battle of the jay walk all stars." needless to say, they're just as smart as anyone else who pops up on "jaywalking."

how i met your mother, rachel bilson.
the casting gods have spoken and how i met your mother may finally have a mother to speak of in the form of rachel bilson. the former oc babe has been tapped for an unknown part in the series extra-special 100th episode, airing in january of next year. while it hasn't been confirmed as to whether or not rachel is actually the mother, all signs point to yes. according to executive producer craig thomas, the 100th episode will be the closest ted (the main character) has ever come to the mother after a long line of fake-outs (i'm still annoyed that sarah chalke wasn't the mom!). there still is the possibility that r bilson is another bump in the road to the mom or she could be a link to the mom. if she is the title matriarch, then i think it's casting genius! i really like rachel bilson and hate that almost everything she's done post-oc has been a one-off guest episode. plus, rachel looks like she could be the mom to the two kids ted tells the story to every episode. the only thing i worry about is, if rachel is the mother, where does the show go from here? can himym survive if we know who the mom is? i guess we'll have to wait and see.

"fame kills" tours
one of the most anticipated tours of the fall - and what was sure to be one of the highest grossing tours ever - has been canceled. the "fame kills" tour, which was to double-bill lady gaga and kanye west as headliners, was pulled from livenation's upcoming events yesterday with no explanation. as of today, the only reason given for the cancellation were creative issues with kanye. big surprise. i'm guessing that the kanye/taylor swift debacle wasn't helping the tour gain momentum and that all parties decided to cut their losses and scrap the whole idea. the good news is that lady gaga has decided to forge ahead and will be relaunching the tour as just hers. gaga's tour will coincide with the re-release of her bestselling album the fame (now known as the fame monster). the newly repackaged disc will feature a series of new songs, including her 5th single "love monster." as far as i can tell, all videos with the demo version of the song have been pulled from youtube but you can easily download the song. it's not that great, but it's allegedly not a completed version. gaga will most likely premiere the song this weekend as part of her performance as musical guest on saturday night live.
