day 107

glamour honors the glamorous
glamour magazine has decided to honor some of the most fearless fashion icons of the past 7 decades. click here to see the complete catalog of the honorees, each of whom is portrayed by a different up-and-comer. emma stone, of superbad and the house bunny, takes on carrie bradshaw's iconic tutu from the opening credits of sex and the city, alexis bledel of gilmore girls and the sisterhood of the traveling pants movies assumes the role of rosie the riveter, emma roberts, julia's niece and nickelodeon star, pays homage to audrey hepburn in funny face, and lindsay lohan takes on madonna, among others.  it's interesting to see who the editors at glamour thought were modern stars who were respectful enough to take this on.  lindsay lohan? really? at least she got madonna - the most risque of the honorees.  alicia keys as first lady michelle obama was interesting to see, too.  hopefully this will become a yearly tradition for the mag; it's one of the most fun photo shoots i've seen recently.

dancing gets another star?
holly madison, hugh hefner's former girlfriend, is set to strap on her dancing shoes.  the problem?  there aren't any open spots on this season's cast.  holly is this season's "back-up."  every season, the show cast one extra guy and one extra girl in case one of their stars gets injured before the show begins.  this season, holly madison is set to take over for jewel.  jewel recently injured her leg/knee/ankle in pre-season practices and is currently trying to gain her strength back in time to dance on monday's premiere.  but, if jewel does back up, holly will strap on the sequins and heels.  something she should be used to, right?  holly would definitely bring in the male vote.  my question is, if jewel leaves the show, does that mean her unfamous rodeo husband ty murray will leave to?  what's the point of having him on if jewel's gone?  in other dancing news, it turns out the only reason lil' kim agreed to come on the show was because of her former fellow inmates.  kim said that the only show she and her fellow prisoners could agree on to watch monday nights was dancing with the stars. so, she's really just paying back her "sisters."

britney's back
britney spears kicked off her circus tour last night in her home state of louisiana to some of the best reviews of her career.  while the star did lip synch, isn't it expected of her?  the only negative comment that came out of her almost two hour act was the lack of audience interaction - britney only talked to the audience at the very end of the concert to say goodnight and thank you.  my thoughts are that she was nervous and, therefore, did not want to get her mind off track.  the more performances she does, the more likely she is to start talking.  while britney was "miming" (as the english call it), she rerecorded all her vocals so they sounded more "live."  check out a video of her entrance above.  brit's tour continues through june and tickets are starting to go for upwards of $300.  check out this youtube page to see more performances from the show.  i don't understand why no network attempted to get the rights to a recorded version of the concert.  hopefully she'll put out a dvd once it's all said and done.
