the teen comedy grows up. the art of getting by follows george (freddie highmore), a high school loner attempting to coast his way to graduation. george's life turns upside down when he strikes up an unexpected friendship with sally (emma roberts). george's friendship with sally soon turns romantic, but he's too timid to act on his feelings. when he finally does get the nerve, it's too late. add in the possibility of not actually graduating and george winds up right where he started, but with more determination- he not only wants to graduate and win over sally, he has to. the art of getting by mixes quirky with realistic, comedy with heart. both highmore and roberts deliver breakout performances, complimented by a supporting cast including blair underwood, rita wilson and alicia silverstone. this is the kind of movie john hughes would be making if he were still around today.

movie review: are you ready to scream?
ten years later and it still holds up. wes craven and co's comeback did not disappoint- in fact, i want to run back to the theater and watch it again. picking up 10 years after the events of scream 3 (when we thought it was all over, right?), scream 4 follows sidney (neve campbell) back to her hometown of woodsboro on a book tour ... on the anniversary of the original massacres. but did anyone expect sid's first visit back home in 10 years to be drama free? in the past decade, 7 stab movies were made - the movies-within-the-movies based on sidney's life - and have become cult classics. dewey and gale (david arquette and coutney cox, in an awkward-to-watch on screen relationship) have gotten married - dewey's now the town's sheriff and gale's given up the journalistic dream for love. and the town's teen population's become obsessed with the stab franchise- they're all glad woodsboro's known for something. so when someone starts recreating the original murders, it's a game of "guess who" that's pretty tricky to figure out. like they say in the trailer, all the rules have changed. scream 4 keeps you on the edge of your seat for two hours - you think you know what's coming, but, trust me, you won't figure it out until the sequel's shocking reveal. the best part is watching the original three survivors (sid, dewey and gale) work together again to uncover the mystery they just can't seem to escape. with great references and allusions to the original trilogy, plus breakout performances by emma roberts and (a surprisingly likable) hayden panetierre, scream 4 is a must see for any fan - whether you've seen all three originals, just one or just want a good scare/laugh fest. you'll leave the theater wanting more, which is good for the filmmakers, because they've apparently mapped out two more movies.

can. not. wait.
scream 4 is less than 4 months away. it can't get here soon enough. the latest trailer for the film has hit the internets, and it's even better than the first teaser. from the looks of it, scream 4 will be the best flick in the series since the first one. check out the trailer above.

ready to scream?
it's been a decade since the last scream movie was released. but this april, the fourth installment - the beginning of a new trilogy - is set to be released. the teaser trailer for scream 4 premiered at spike tv's scream awards this weekend. it doesn't give much away about the plot of the film, but it does give you a look at original stars neve campbell, courtney cox and david arquette. check it out above - it looks like it will fit right in with the original three movies, walking the line between parody and true-to-form slasher flick. emma roberts supposedly takes the lead role, but from the looks of the trailer, neve campbell's sydney is back as the driving force behind ghost face's return. i seriously cannot wait for this movie to hit theaters. check out the trailer above.
