day 52

is it really all i ever wanted?

with just about 10 days until her fourth album's first single, "my life would suck without you," drops, kelly clarkson has released the new cover of said disc, slated for release march 17th.  by the looks of the candy colored artwork, it looks like clarkson and her team are really pushing the star back to her pop roots. it's always good to see people returning to the things that made them famous (like britney recently did).  clarkson's last album was, to say the lease, a bit of a dissapointment. my december was all focused on one theme - being unable to recover from a breakup - and just was unlistenable. hopefully, all i ever wanted returns to the glory of breakaway and gets clarkson back on the radio.  all artists are allowed to have their issues, but two failed albums back-to-back would be sure to put the nail in the america idol champ's career coffin.  we'll just have to see if this album's title lives up to its title in clarkson's mind.

someone's sure to be fired at the globes

the people running the golden globes' website are probably kicking themselves tonight.  while the show doesn't happen until sunday, one of the night's biggest award's winner was accidentally revealed today.  what was probably just a check-gone-wrong to see if a graphic on the site worked, a "winner's star" was placed next to anne hathaway's name under the "best actress" category today for her work in the indie rachel getting married.  while the star has since been removed, and the globes people aren't releasing any statements, the damage is done. congrats to anne, but what's the point for other nominees - like angelina jolie, meryl streep, and kate winslet - to show up? maybe those stars will be kept in the dark and not be aware that they won't be picking up the newly redesigned statuette? 

lindsay lohan, hypocrite. 

lindsay lohan, everyone's favorite former redheaded-bicurious-sometimes actress, just made a big ass out of herself in the latest issue of interview magazine.  when asked about her life as a celebrity, lindsay says she only ever wanted to be a movie star, not a "celebrity" of today's times, who is only out there to promote themselves and not their work.  what is lindsay promoting you ask? absolutely nothing. lindsay's latest project (labor pains) isn't set to be released until the spring or summer and all she's been doing lately is hosting parties at clubs.  i don't know about you, but it seems like lindsay isn't living up to the movie stars of yore she so admires.  what's even more interesting is that, when she tries to name movies she admires, she only name drops "hitchcock films." in general, hitchock's movies aren't really known for their actors as much as their plot lines.  hopefully lohan sees the problem in all this shameless self promotion versus what she's actually saying and takes some time away from the spotlight.

lautner lands moon

looks like michael copon is going to have to look for work somewhere else.  taylor lautner will keep the part of jacob black in new moon, the sequel to megahit twilight, scheduled for release later this year.  after speculation that the babyfaced 16 year old wouldn't be able to handle the "new-and-improved" jacob of the second book (in which the character grows to giant heights and has the appearance of a 25 year old), new moon director chris weitz and series auther stephanie meyer each released statements today that they believed the original cast would be the best choice for continuing the series.  lautner, in an attempt to keep the role that is sure to make him famous, has packed on 19 pounds of muscle and is willing to put on 10+ more lbs before filming of the next installment begins.  fans had also been campaigning to keep the original actor and they are sure to be happy with the choice.  this casting seems to make the most sense - why change something that's not broken? 

donna martin graduates...to 90210 

tori spelling is finally headed back to the zip-code that made her famous.  reprising the role of donna martin, spelling will begin filming in late january for an episode to air later in the season.  spelling had not been willing to return to the show when it was first launched when she learned that returning cast members shannen doherty and jennie garth were getting paid nearly double the salary spelling was offered. jason priestly, the original 90210's brendan, is set to direct the ep.  this should be interesting. as far as i know, only jennie garth will be on the episode alongside spelling. what will donna martin be up to? when the series was first in development, donna was supposed to be owning a "kitson-like" boutique that all the 90210-ers frequent.  oh well, it will be interesting to see what her nose job and boob job will be able to pull off in 2009. 

just a thought...

who is writing magazine headlines these days? ok magazine's latest cover has quite the incoherent title for an article all about britney: "what price fame?" um...it seems like they're missing a word there, like "what price for fame?" you'd think that before a major publication went to shelves and subscribers someone would be "that doesn't look right." maybe i'm missing something, but it just seems like something should be said about this.

the paula abdul show?

after a failed bravo tv show (hey paula!) and numerous out-of-her-mind interviews, american idol's loopiest judge, paula abdul, may be getting her own daytime talk show, joining the ranks of such "long lasting" programs as the megan mullaly show and the jane pauley show...oh, wait, those each lasted less than a season.  abdul is apparently in final negotiations with cbs/paramount to establish a daily show similar in format to the tyra banks show - more free form and tackling "issues" paula cares about.  paula has also been pushing ai's bosses for a big pay increase for the next season of the show - or else she's threatening to walk.  oh, what a tragedy that would be.  no longer would we be able to hear how she wants to rip of david archuleta's head and hang it from her rear view mirror (should this woman be driving anyway?) and making up performances in her head, like she did with jason castro's performance last season. if she doesn't get the reported $10 million asking price she wants, paula abdul will be off of idol and onto her talk show.  the reality competition really doesn't need her anymore as they have acquired new 4th female judge kara dio guardi.

here's a little buzz of what's happening on some returning shows come the launch of mid season. up first is grey's anatomy - with the introduction of tyne daily as derek's mother, tensions are sure to be on the rise at seattle grace.  mother shepherd supposedly has the same "loving" personality derek's sister had towards meredith when she stopped by last season.  as well, it looks like the crew behind the show is this close to keeping tr knight (aka george) around for at least one more season ... now that gossip girl has kicked off the second half of its second season, rumors are swirling again over who will take the show into its next frontier, the spinoff.  with a deal to bring back michelle trachtenberg as uber bitch georgina sparks reportedly in the final stages, the girl everyone loves to hate is said to be the object of the cw's affections and the character the show's creative team want to carry on in her own adventures ... when 24 returns on sunday, look for some bourne identity action. chloe (mary lynn rajskub) has gone rogue with some former ctu cohorts who all believe the us government to be too corrupt to be trusted. this gives season/day 7 a supposedly renegade vibe ... and, over on one tree hill, it looks like there's about to be some brooke davis drama (what else is new?).  millicent will confess that she slept with owen to brooke, just as brooke begins seeing julian.

lohan loses lady love

looks like lindsay lohan may be single - and straight - for the first time in a long time.  reports are surfacing that the former red-headed child star and dj girlfriend samantha ronson after a heated fight (which included breaking furniture and mirrors in their hotel room) on new years eve while they were in new york co-hosting a party at club mansion. double l has allegedly moved out of the house and and samantha shared and has requested that little sister ali move in with her in this time of "transition." yes, that's what every recovering alcoholic and drug addict amidst a sexual identity crisis needs -  a 14 year old mentor.  maybe all this will be featured on season two of living lohan? it's only a matter of time before lohan winds up back in rehab.  maybe she should take some time out of the public spotlight?

romijn, o'connell: proud parents

acting couple rebecca romijn (formerly stamos) and jerry o'connell welcomed twin girls december 28th, named dolly rebecca rose and charlie tamara tulip.  umm what's with the rando flower names at the end? dolly rebecca and charlie tamara would have been just fine, but now, every time they fill out an official legal document, they'll have to add in "rose" or "tulip." oh well.  dolly was named after one of romijn's idols, dolly parton. no word on whether or not charlie has any significance. 

splitsville

two little cared about couples have decided to call it quits in 2009.  jennifer love hewitt and "actor" fiance ross mccall have decided to call off their engagement.  the couple was together over 2 years before their november 2007 engagement and the split comes as a shock to friends and family of the pair.  patricia arquette, star of nbc show medium and sister of the arquette siblings, has filed for divorce from her husband thomas jane, known for his roles in punisher and the sweetest thing.  the couple have been married for only 2 years, but have a 5 year old daughter, harlow.

kelly clarkson's new single, "my life would suck without you," has "leaked" to the internet...in the form of lyrics.  click here to read the lyrics.  hopefully the lyrics are an upbeat pop number (think "since u been gone") and not an angry ballad like all of my december.  check back january 19th for the official release of the single, off her fourth album slated to be released in march under the name "masquerade."

dancing duo tangos to the alter 

two of dancing with the stars' most popular professionals, karina smirnoff and maksim chmerkovsly, have decided to tie the knot. the couple, who have been quietly seeing each other since smirnoff's split with notorious womanizer mario lopez about 6 months ago, decided to literally ring in the new year, getting engaged just before 2009 rolled around.  no official statement from the pair has been released, but should be coming shortly.  the engagement happened in between tour dates on the latest dwts tour, which will conclude just before production starts on the latest season, which begins in march.  

a real housewife's real life

the real housewives of atlanta star kim zolciak has decided to reach out to the internet to keep in touch with her many "fans" with a blog, kimzolciakonline.com.  the aspiring actor and singer will post pictures, videos, and essays about her life throughout 2009, with her first posting being yesterday, about her carribean vacation.  although kim said she would be releasing a country record sometime in the new year, it doesn't look like that will be happening.  the record company she "name dropped" on the bonnie hunt show doesn't even exist and her meetings with megaproducer dallas austin were apparently staged for the show.  however, the "30 year old" single mother seems to have found a new sugar daddy.  after her split from married entrepreneur lee najjar - who bought her cadillac and other presents seen on the show - kim has started dating billionaire dr. stefan lemperle.  a second season of the show is sure to happen, as the installment in the real housewives series was the most watched ever.  the latest season of the orange county edition is currently on the air and the new york housewives return in february.

update time

while no story is all that big, there are plenty of little stories that update some of the past ones i've reported on. first up is gossip girl star kelly rutherford's family life -  while the actress is pregnant with her second child, she has decided to file divorce papers after 2 years of marriage. this will be rutherford's second divorce, but her longest marriage - her first divorce, in 2005, occurred after 5 months of marriage ... uber money making machine twilight is probably about to be handed a big fat lawsuit - the people behind the movie's new fragrance have blatantly ripped off the apple bottle design from a nina ricci fragrance.  the perfume is currently sold at hot topic retailers and may be pulled off the shelves very soon, much like bratz dolls, which will be pulled off store shelves starting in february ... an autopsy on john travolta's son jett is set to take place tomorrow in nasau, though authorities are almost certain the blow to the head jett suffered in the bathtub while on vacation is the cause of death, or at least what we should believe is the cause of death ... it looks like ryan seacrest has a new lady love.  after his split from australian beauty sophie monk (with whom he is developing a faux reality show), seacrest hasn't been seen with many women. however, the tv personality was recently spotted with 2007 playboy playmate of the year sara jean underwood in the carribean. it will be interesting to see if this will develop into a real relationship or if it will just turn into another "ryan seacrest production"

travolta tragedy

john travolta's family suffered a tragic loss today as he and wife kelly preston's 16 year old son jett suffered a seizure and passed away in the bahamas today.  jett, who has been kept out of the public eye (while his sister ella is almost always with her parents on red carpets), is said to have suffered from autism and little known about kawasaki disease, which causes cardiac complications.  because of the family's scientology beliefs, the disease was most likely not properly treated with medication when jett was younger and may have caused the later problems he faced.  is that abuse in some way? i don't know, but it seems like something could have been done to address the issue.  as well, not coming out publicly about details about jett makes the travoltas and scientology even shadier.  the religion does not acknowledge disorders like autism and, therefore, the actor pair may have been unwilling to become spokespeople for the condition.  but, look at parents of autistic children, like jenny mccarthy, that have done so much for the disorder and made it so well known.  the travoltas could have been that voice and that fact that they've seemed to ignore the fact is just wrong.  

that's really all i have for today.  hopefully the family will release some sort of statement that talks all about what exactly was wrong with jett.

kelly clarkson is back. the star kicked off 2009 by releasing the cover art to her soon to be released/leaked single "my life would suck without you." from the looks of the art, it seems like the song is set to be quite poppy and upbeat. the star recently dyed her hair back to blonde, the color she rocked during the breakaway years.  the song is set to drop january 19th, with the 4th studio album following 2 months later in march.  

2008, a year in music, in review

up and coming dj earworm has made a big splash on the web today with the release of his 2008 mashup, a mix and video combo featuring billboard's top 25 hits of the past year.  click here to check out the song and vid.  artists featured on the clip include chris brown, rihanna, jordin sparks, pink, coldplay, katy perry, natasha bedingfield, neyo, onerepublic, sara bareilles, and more.  rihanna is featured heavily on the mix as a number of her songs - including "take a bow," disturbia," and "don't stop the music" - helped to make 2008 one of the biggest in music.

while not a complete story, it looks like we might have our first celebrity baby of 2009.  violet affleck may have become a big sis today as parents jennifer garner and ben affleck headed to cedar sinai in los angeles today, possibly to induce labor.

time to hide that baby bump

chyler leigh (lexie grey), the newest full time cast member to grey's anatomy, is set to have her third child with actor-musician hubby nathan west.  however, the pregnancy will not be written into the show - who would lexie be having a baby with? mcsteamy? that means chyler will be doing a lot of hiding behind counters, clipboards, and patients.  chyler will be becoming an even larger part of the show once it returns in the new year, being the object of mcsteamy's (eric dane) affection - he's looking at her as his latest conquest.  what will addison montgomery (kate walsh) have to say about this during a "very special" grey's-private practice cross over later this season? that just waits to be seen. and, with the imminent departure of george(tr knight), we're sure to see even more lexie. 

pie returns to the big screen

the american pie series is set to return to the big screen, after a 5 year absence and a series of straight-to-dvd sequels. the movie, which will probably be out sometime in 2010, will most likely focus on jim (jason biggs) and michelle (allison hannigan) raising a family.  maybe tara reid will make a return to the franchise? after being ousted from the series for her "questionable" behavior, which has recently landed her in rehab, with the third installment, god only knows she's looking for work.

new years resolutions

once the new year starts knocking on the calendar's door, celebs start getting asked what they'll be resolving to not do come 2009.  cameron diaz said she wants to start wearing bras, stop smoking, and start shopping.  um, okay? i'm good with the wearing bras, and definitely good with the stopping smoking, but what does she mean start shopping? does someone else shop for her or something? what is she looking to buy? hopefully not anymore cigarettes. another known smoker, britney spears, is resolving to stop...biting her nails.  hmm...you don't have custody of your kids, your dad has complete control over you, and you smoke like a chimney and you want to stop biting your nails? i guess it's good to start small?

mcconaughey pulls a simpson

matthew mcconaughey's latest movie, surfer dude, is getting a jessica simpson-style movie release.  the movie, whose plot focuses around the lack of waves in malibu, was released earlier in 2008 to just 69 theaters, making a little over $1000 at each screen.  while simpson's film, blonde ambition, opened at significantly less theaters, since it was released on dvd, ambition has made nearly $12 million.  the one thing the two films have in common is that willie nelson plays a supporting role.  maybe if they didn't have willie they would do better? either way, both stars have faltering careers - simpson's newest movie, major: movie star, was never even released in the us and has been renamed private valentine: blonde and dangerous (to capitalize on its similarities to the goldie hawn comedy private benjamin) for a small dvd release in february.  mcconaughey may fare better, though, as he is an established actor. his "bounce back" film, ghosts of girlfriends past, costars jennifer garner and is a send up of a christmas carol.  though i'd probably rather see jessica simpson do better than matthew "i don't weat deodorant" mcconaughey, it is good that hollywood can be so forgiving. 

the city makes its debut

whitney port's hills spinoff started off what is sure to be the first of many seasons tonight and, well, it looks exactly like the hills.  shot in the same ultra bright and shiny way, the show follows port on a (catch this) actual job in pr at diane von furstenburg, where she is sure to get into some interesting situations.  the show has already established its villain in the form of olivia.  why you would allow yourself to be "cast" in that role is beyond  me.  but, if you ask heidi and spencer, any press is good press.  the biggest question i have is why whitney is able to work at dvf and have her own clothing line, whitney eve.  isn't that counterintuitive? how can she work for one brand and make a "competing" brand as well? hopefully the city will stay more true and show us whitney's actual life, unlike the hills has become.  we don't get to see lauren's clothing line, heidi's music career, or audrina's acting one...why? it seems no one can answer.  oh, and we don't get to see lauren's alleged smoking habit either - it will be interesting to see if she comments on the nasty nicotine addiction with all the rumors swirling around.  and, now that whitney has left california, will lauren bff lo take her place on the original show? it seems the most plausible recasting, but only time will tell...well, to be exact, the spring will tell when the hills returns to complete its 4th (and possible final) season.

hollywood power couple double date

two of hollywood's most powerful couplings, jake gyllenhaal and reese witherspoon (gyllenspoon) and robert downey jr and wife susan, spent the day after christmas together.  jake and downey worked together on the '07 thriller zodiac and, apparently, hit it off.  the couples were seen all over ojai, california taking hikes around witherspoon's property and had a group dinner inside the estate. no word on why they all got together, but maybe this is the newest power bff coupling. its quite interesting...maybe jake feels older than he actually is? he dates a woman 4+ years older and rdj is about 25 years older than him. as odd as it is, as long as they get along, why not be friends? thanks to justjared for the exclusive snaps. 

together they divorce (and prey)

while they're in the middle of what the press is making out to be a nasty divorce, both madonna and guy richie, along with their children, showed up to a kabbalah center in london. guy, with sons rocco and david in an audi, and madonna and daughter lourdes, in a range rover, came together for hanukkah celebrations (which end tonight). no word on why the former couple decided to come out, but it is nice to see that they can still be civil.  guy is said to be getting somewhere in the 70 millions in the divorce, though no settlement has been reached.  though, guy probably won't need madonna's money - he is currently directing the sure-to-be-blockbuster sherlock holmes starring robert downey junior, rachel mcadams, and jude law, slated for release sometime next year.  

chyna doll falls off the wagon

chyna, the former wrestler and reality show regular, was hospitalized early saturday after getting shwasted.  the star apparently decided to drink herself silly friday night as saturday was her birthday.  when she reached the hospital, chyna was apparently too drunk to even answer questions about herself or go through a psych evaluation. looks like she'll be back at dr drew's celebrity rehab next season...which is good, as she is always entertaining.  when asked for comment, chyna said "all i want right now is a hamburger and fries." classy.

there really isn't all that much to report today. the biggest story is that (shocker) salma hayek is a smoker.  the star was spotted outside neiman marcus in los angeles sucking on a cancer stick while shopping with her daughter. now, why do all these stars smoke? it's not like it's glamorous or anything - every pack has a label on it telling you you might die or that you'll have a disfigured baby.  you know you're in the public eye and you'll most likely be scrutinized, so why do it? my favorite are the closet smokers, like hayek and eva longoria parker.  if you think it's going to taint your public image, then how about you don't do it? katherine heigl is proud to be slowly killing herself, smoking up in almost every picture of her that hits the internet or the magazines - with her husband, mom, sister...anyone basically.  other stars, like leonardo dicaprio, who are all about saving the environment, should really stop, too. isn't smoking heavily just as bad as driving around a giant car or using cans and cans of hairspray? if only the cigarette boxes in america were like the ones in europe that say "you will die" or "cancer is imminent" on them, then maybe the stars would be a little more hesitant?

jen beats brad

jennifer aniston's marley and me is set to top the christmas weekend box office, with ex-husband brad pitt's coming in second.  the dog themed rom-com has brought in close to fifteen million dollars as compared to bejamin button's 12ish. while aniston's film is shorter and played on more screens, i still think she would have beaten pitt - just the theme of the movie is more family friendly.  pitt's movie runs almost 3 hours long, which is about double the regular rate for movies today. how they turned a short story into a 3 hour long movie is beyond me.  the big question here is which film will be bigger at the box office overall.  my bet is still on marley.  family films always stay around longer and, while the film probably won't be nominated or win any awards, artsy pieces tend not to have staying power at the box office.

love woes

giselle bundchen, the former victoria's secret model, and football beau tom brady are now engaged.  brady popped the question on christmas eve, on his private jet with bundchen's family present.  the couple got together right after brady's former flame bridget moynahan announced she was pregnant with the couple's son.  no word on whether or not the over-paid model is with child, but she no doubt soon will be.  maybe tom can leave her, too, and just go around the states getting engaged to and knocking up famous women?

kate walsh, star of grey's anatomy spin off private practice, has countersued for divorce from her tv exec hubby, who filed right before thanksgiving.  the latest rumor swirling the surprise split is that walsh's soon to be ex is leaving her for (wait for it)...a man, his ex college roomie - an openly gay lawyer.  rumors like these have been surrounding the couple since their engagement. it will be interesting to see what all happens in this divorce; the celeb tabs are sure to follow it closely.

michael cera is reportedly being pursued for the role of  gilligan for the gilligan's island movie remake, with beyonce being scouted to play "the moviestar" (odd casting if you ask me) 

because no mag wanted to buy the picture, ashlee simpson and pete wentz released a picture onto the internets of new son bronx mowgli

just a thought...

is it just me or are all the shape magazine covers the same?? now, i've never paid all that much attention to this particular mag, but with the surge in high profile stars on its cover, i've come to notice that almost all the covers look exactly the same.  the star poses with her hip cocked to one side, corresponding arm resting on it, in a bikini, with a big ass grin on her face.  the latest celeb to grace the cover is none other than the tiz herself, ashley tisdale.  now, it's good that all these girls have the tight abs (they should - all they have is time to work out) and good retouchers, but can't someone at the mag get some creativity? maybe the creative directors and editors just really like the look, but it seems quite boring and, if i were to get the magazine, i wouldn't be able to differentiate between the different issues...

since it's the holidays, the celebs seem to be keeping it relatively tame, so no big news to comment on today.

beyonce, times 2: take 2

beyonce has released 2 new singles from her double disc i am...sasha fierce, "halo" from i am..., and "diva" from sasha fierce.  the videos are similar in concept to her two previous releases off these discs, "if i were a boy" and "single ladies."  click here to check out halo, and here to check out "diva."  halo uses light pastel filters to color the footage and there doesn't really seem to be a story line - beyonce practices in a ballet studio and sits on a couch with her man.  but, the song is radio worthy.   the coolest shots are the ones with beyonce underwater -  a concept britney should consider if she ever turns "out from under" into a single.  the song is more fun to listen to and the video is more fun to watch than "if i were a boy."  with "diva," beyonce is definitely tapping into sasha's dance reserves.  mixing the styling of the "ring the alarm" and "if i were a boy" videos, beyonce seems to be sticking to the 3 girl dance routine. the dance is quite a bit simpler than the "single ladies" choreography and is sure to result in a rise in youtube impersonations.  maybe with the simple choreography b will mix it up during her performances and not do the same dance every time.  diva is a mix of lil wayne's "a milli" and other tracks off sasha fierce, like "radio" and "videophone." the latter track even makes an appearance at the end of the "diva" video, alluding to the idea that it may very well be the next single and have a video which continues from the "diva" concept. 

speaking of popstars starting with the letter b...

britney spears is gearing up for her "the circus...staring britney spears" tour in 2009 and is making some changes to her entourage.  the princess of pop is dropping long time choreographers wade robson and andre fuentes in lou of mega tour director jamie king.  robson has been with brit from the start of her career and is responsible for the "baby one more time" video.  robson and fuentes recently choreographed britney's comeback performances in europe, creating new dances for "womanizer" and "circus."  while wade has originally been announced as the tour's director, her has been dropped so that the man responsible for madonna's recent "sticky and sweet" megatour, christina aguilera's "back to basics" tour, and the spice girls reunion can take over.  king is known for highlighting the performer and is sure to make the "circus" tour big. hopefully we'll get to see some old school spears dance moves and not the simple stuff we've been treated to thus far on the promotional tour.  this tour will also heavilt feature material from spear's last effort blackout, which she was unable to tour with as she was going crazy.

first he blabbed all about his sexual conquests and his married sex life on howard stern, and now the face of fall out boy is discussing other intimacies about his life with ashlee simpson. wentz talked to a sirius morning show all about his dislike of the taste of ashlee's breast milk (wtf? why is he drinking it??) and discussed the couples' weight issues.  pete, who usually stays around 135, says he's "ballooned" to close to 150 and has "fat face," while ashlee is struggling to drop the baby weight.  pete thinks she has it easier as breast feeding is helping the pounds come off, while he's having to resort to exercise.  um, the last i checked, we all have to resort to exercise.  and the strenuousness of walking is just too much on wentz's tiny frame...how about you head back into the hollywood hills and come back out when you can conduct a professional interview? or let ashlee do some of the talking. i would love to hear her (or her father, for that matter) take on all this.

simpson sisters big changes

both jessica and ashlee are making some big changes in their lives.  the elder simpson sister, jessica, is said to be actively trying to conceive a child with long time love tony romo.  sister ashlee recently had a son, bronx mowgli, last month.  but, what happened to jessica's down home values? doesn't the song go "first comes love, then comes marriage, then comes momma with a baby carriage?"  maybe jess is trying to mirror her sister's life - first get pregnant, then get married.  with this news, some of the american tabs may be more willing to get pictures of ashlee's baby; allegedly, no magazines have been interested in the baby pictures.  joe simpson, the dadager, is asking for too steep a price...i'm surprised a magazine like life & style or star hasn't jumped at the chance. ashlee's big change is not quite as drastic.  the singer/actress made the change back to blonde today after 9+ months as a redhead.  the hair color change is a little more natural (it is actually ashlee's natch color) and could be a ploy to sell the baby pics - a lot of mags haven't been all that interested in the star and her husband, pete wentz,'s "dark" looks.  either way, both sisters (and their men) are headed to waco, texas to have christmas with the simpson clan. 

jackson's lungs just fine

michael jackson is not in need of a lung transplant or in dire need of medical care, contrary to reports.  along with denying reports today, the singer's reps said the former king of pop is finalizing negotiations to go on a world tour and do a series of tv specials throughout 2009.  could this tour be the much talked about jackson 5 reunion? while michael has continually denied touring with his brother (with sister janet on board, too), it seems like the most plausible explanation - jackson would not have to be on stage for the entire show and he could showcase some of his own material.  either way it goes, the star is going to have to face a lot of press and answer a lot of questions about his wacky ass lifestyle.

tv bites

here are some spoilers (if you don't want to know, avert your eyes) coming up in 2009 on some top series:

gossip girl - something we haven't seen on tv's most scandalous show is sure to send waves through some fans' worlds.  the latest buzz is that an underground sex ring is going to start up, involving at least one of our upper east siders.  could this be the return for michelle trachtenberg's naughty georgina? another plot line coming up is college - the characters are said to be headed to at least 3 different schools, with yale most likely taking one of those spots.

ugly betty - the show seems to be doing some stunt casting, minus mischa barton.  while the oc star won't be taking a turn on the abc soap, two musical veterans will. first up is bernadette peters, who will be playing the head of yeti (the editors-in-training program betty and marc are involved with) and is sure to torture our favorite poncho wearing assistant.  nikki blonsky, known for hairspray and her airport beatdown with antm contestant bianca, will be playing an assistant at competitor magazine elle who strikes up a fast friendship with the titular character. but, as they come from two different magazines, their friendship is sure to be tested.

desperate housewives - with the show having completed over 100 episodes, some twists are a coming to wisteria lane.  first up is the reconciliation of mike and susan...to find an appropriate school for their son mj.  bree is set to be thrown into a publishing whirlwind, having been commissioned to release 3 books in one year (could she be returning to the bottle to deal with the stress?).  and gabby is going to get back to her glamour ways, getting back down to size and back to long hair.

nothing

i literally have nothing to report to you today. no big stories broke - no one went crazy, no one died, and no one's divorcing.  little things like lisa rinna posing for playboy (yawn) spilled out today but, really, who cares? i guess stars are doing their best last ditch attempts to land on santa (and the hanukkah armadillo - friends? anyone? okay)'s nice, not naughty, list.  other mini stories that broke are that twilight star robert pattinson got a haircut (now it looks like he bathes!), amy winehouse has been galavanting around topless all over st lucia (not a pretty sight), and michael jackson is "allegedly" (from the british tabs) deathly ill...

hopefully the next few days bring some real news to comment on.
