day 213

fame
because hollywood is not very keen on new ideas these days, filmmakers are continuing to relaunch franchise and remake classics. the latest flick to be redone is fame, the 80s musical-movie about kids in at a creative arts high school. just like the original, the cast is made up of generally unknown originals - the movie's first go around featured the likes of, well, no one you'll know, while this version features disney stars kay panabaker and anna maria perez de tagle (camp rock). some bigger hollywood names did come out, however, to take on the teaching roles; debbie allen is the only original cast member to return to the relaunch and is joined by megan mullaly and kelsey grammer. the movie won't hit the big screen until late september - the 25th - but the trailer is getting a prime premiere this weekend, before every showing of the sandra bullock/ryan reynolds comedy the proposal. but, if you won't be at the theater this weekend, here's the movie's official trailer. rather than a straight remake, this seems to be an update or sequel.
