day 314

snl brings no lols
last night was the 35th season premiere of saturday night live. for such a historic episode, the show didn't really warrant going down in the history books. the opening was an annoying c-span cold reading with fred armisen playing libian president muammar qadhafi. i feel like snl falls back on these stupid c-span sketches when they don't have any good material, which is usually a sign that the show is going to s-u-c-k, suck.
megan fox was hosting and, well, i'm not sure she's made out for comedy. the funniest parts of the show were megan's monologue and a flight attendant speech she did with the one talented member (as in a cast member who could play with the cast of the 90s) of the show, kristen wiig. why the show didn't make use of any of the staples from last year - like the suze ormon show or 4th hour today (both of which feature wiig) - is beyond me.
to add insult to injury, the show barely made use of the two new female cast members. wouldn't this be the time to show off their comedy chops to prove to the audience that these girls were worth firing michaela watkins and casey wilson? the highlight of the night was when new cast member jenny slate dropped the "f" bomb during her debut in a completely unfunny skit about a biker chick with her own talk show.
hopefully the show gets better from here. however, i don't know if it will.
