another slice of pie
as i previously mentioned, the producers of american pie are going back to the big screen with a fourth installment of the franchise. after a string of straight-to-dvd sequels, the film series will head back to the cineplex with american pie: book of love. the film will follow a new group of kids who discover the "sex bible" featured in the first flick. but, surprise surprise, at least one of the original cast members will be returning: tara reid. after a stint in rehab and a lack of work, the actress is headed back to work. she'll, of course, be reprising her role of vicky and i can only imagine she'll either a) be related to the kids in some way or b) be their mentor (like the young teacher at school or something). hopefully tara will be able carry the film/not seem totally lost and out of place. the film goes into production this summer and should hit theaters in the fall. this will be tara's 3rd american pie film - she wasn't invited back for the 3rd installment, american wedding.
sound off
sad to say but that's today's best story. other tid bits include sarah michelle geller and freddie prinze jr are expecting their first child together and amy poehler's new show, parks and recreation, pretty much bombed. it came in 3rd for its timeslot. i think the problem was that it's made exactly like the office. you can only have one show like that. people don't want to see a faux documentary every single week. and it seems like amy is playing michael scott in female form. they should have gone with a 30 rock-ish concept over an office one in my opinion. obviously the creators of the american office aren't very creative if they can only make the same show over and over again. nbc needs to wise up and realize people are interested in more than just gritty dramas and sarcastic comedies - people want laugh out loud sitcoms. the sitcom isn't dead; its current incarnation just isn't sufficient. i hope something better happens for poehler because, or else, we lost her on snl for no reason.
