over the weekend, i got the chance to see the george clooney buzz-worthy flick up in the air. the movie follows a corporate guy who flies around the country firing people from various businesses. when his company decides to go digital, clooney's character takes on the task of teaching the girl (twilight's anna kendrick) who spearheaded the company's new digital frontier how the system works offline. along the way, he falls in love when he wasn't looking for. up in the air is one of the most enjoyable movies i've gotten to see in a long time. the three main actors (clooney, kendrick and vera farmiga) all give great performances and it's no surprise they've all been given nominations in the big award shows - the fact that they haven't won anything is the actual surprise. i didn't look at my watch once during the movie, which is always a good sign that i'm enjoying myself and am not bored out of my mind. maybe it was because i was super focused on the size of anna kendrick's head. she should definitely not wear her hair straight back in a pony tail. huge. but, anyway, if i can stay focused during a movie, then you should be able to, too. i highly recommend seeing up in the air (plus, i plan to read the book it was based on), even though the final half hour is a big descent into depression. but don't worry, it's not that depressing. just a blow to the whole "i wanted it to just keep better from here" expectation.
