it's the first day of school and i have no homework. so what did i do? i went and saw the switch. the film stars jason bateman and jennifer aniston as best friends, one over-the-top neurotic (bateman) and one whose biological clock is ticking away (aniston). when jen's character, cassie, doesn't ask bateman's wally for his "sample" when she wants to get knocked up, he takes things into his own hands and replaces her donor's "seed" with his own. however, he doesn't remember doing it because he was, well, drunk. cassie moves back home to minnesota, has a son (sebastian) and loses touch will wally. cut to seven years later and cassie is ready to move back to new york city with sebastian. wally and cassie reconnect and....well, i don't want to spoil anything else for you. while jennifer aniston is basically playing the same character she's been playing for almost 20 years, the film is really about bateman's character bonding with sebastian, played adorably by thomas robinson. he's like an adult in a kid's body. this movie hasn't done very well commercially and probably won't be in your theater for all that long, so i suggest you run out and see it. i think there was too much emphasis put on jennifer aniston in the advertising and that's what killed it. but, in reality, she's more of a supporting character than the star.
