so any story i would have wanted to talk about today wound up being complete fabrications. the biggest rumor of the day - which i still hope is true - was that kristin wiig would be taking amy poehler's old rolly chair at the "weekend update desk" on saturday night live come this month's season premiere. but, according to an insider at entertainment weekly, kristin joining the fake news is just that: fake. boo. i'm hoping that the insider is either lying or trying to cover up the fact that kristin is taking the position and we'll all be "surprised" when she pops up on the 26th. i don't know how i feel about a full season of seth myers making jokes that aren't that funny all alone; "weekend update" got so much better when colin quinn left snl and tina fey and jimmy fallon took over as co-anchors. the segment began as a co-hosted sketch with one female and one male anchor and that's the way it should be. i understand that the head writer gets one of the slots - seth meyer - but that shouldn't mean they're the only slot. that's just boring ... the other story was that rosie o'donnell and star jones were teaming up for a reality show that would meld the concepts of oprah's cross country road-trip and the simple life. the duo has reportedly put aside their issue - they've long feuded (rosie called star out on her "natural" weight loss), but have apparently bonded after both serving tenure under barbara walters at the view. too bad any indication that this story was true was stripped off intouch and us weekly's web sites, the two publications who had reported the story.
