as promised, i'm just posting some of the highlights from last night's emmy telecast. first up, the opening number ("put down the remote") by host neil patrick harris.
neil helped draw in over 13 million people to the telecast, helping the show bounce back from dismal ratings the year before. this definitely helps cement nph as the go-to-host for awards shows.
this was my favorite acceptance speech from the night and it just so happened to come first. amy poehler didn't win the award, but she did come up with the idea for all the nominated women to wear silly glasses when their names were called. and, vanessa williams wasn't being rude by not wearing a get-up; her bit was actually to play the bitch and not participate. i love when celebs are genuinely humbled by the experience and did a great job mixing emotion and comedy in her speech.
jimmy fallon took inspiration one of my favorite youtube channels, autotune the news, by getting up on stage and starting his presentation with an autotune mic. he then did a pratfall, which made the autotuned noises even funnnier.
that's all the bits i can find so far, but i'll check back later to see if there's any more uploads of some of the night's best speeches.
